Fissure-friendly eating

Postby zippitydoodah » 18 Mar 2015, 09:50

So, those of us who are trying to follow a fissure-friendly diet know that it can be way boring to stick to salads and bran cereal all the time. I'm wondering if anyone has any good recipes to share, or maybe fissure-friendly modifications to old favorites, to add a little variety into life!

:ole:
-Fissure since August 2014 after diarrhea and antibiotics
-Using diltiazem, baths, ibuprofen, magnesium, high fiber diet/supplements, probiotics, coconut oil, cleaning with water & wipes only
-LIS & skin tag removal scheduled for late January 2015

Get some of that vegan cheese from the health food store. Opens up a lot of possibilities to make stuff that would otherwise not be fissure-friendly!
● Fissure first appeared Nov '14
● Cycle of healing and reappearing
● Using conservative methods (metamucil, managing anxiety)

Here's a couple things I like:

Moroccan carrot red lentil soup - http://www.acedarspoon.com/moroccan-car ... ntil-soup/
Crockpot turkey chili - http://ifoodreal.com/high-protein-crock ... li-recipe/
Pumpkin curry w/ quinoa - http://juliasalbum.com/2013/11/vegetari ... kin-curry/
Quinoa fried "rice" - http://www.cookingforkeeps.com/2013/03/ ... ried-rice/

Beanitos bean chips make a great substitute for tortilla chips that my body seems to be able to handle a lot better. (Plus a good source of fiber!)

I've been eating sweet potato fries every day because it's the one thing I can eat that tastes like junk food but isn't. I just slice up the sweet potato, peels on, into fries, toss them in about 1 tbsp of olive oil along with some onion powder, garlic powder and a bit of salt, bake single layer on a sheet at 375 for 45-55 minutes. Yum.

Good idea for a post, I eat a lot of pureed soup but getting tired of them, although need to go back to them for a while for a boost in healing.
I made this the other day : http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/choc ... range-tart. It's so rich you only want a slither but so delicious.

My hubby got me an Actifry and that's been awesome for sweet potato fries and regular fries without all the grease. I highly recommend it!
