Hello,
I have been dealing with a possible Anal Fissure for about five weeks, It started after a very intense bowl movement and I knew right away something had happened. I waited a few days and was very uncomfortable and ended up getting checked out. The doctor completed series of test after a visual look for Hemroid etc.

I am a 43 year old male , general good health , about 20 pounds overweight

Symptoms:

I feel like , I have something ( small piece of bowel in my anus ) , when I sit down and work at my desk it is uncomfortable and makes me irritated. I get up and move around and feels like its swollen and uncomfortable. While sitting down feels like a small pea and possibly squishy internally? If I stand up and clinch then it feels like something is in my anus. The uncomfortable part is sitting down and feeling like I have something in there then I get anxiety and when I am moving around always doing this weird little dance to make it feel better...

Here is what was completed:

Full lab work all labs and everything came back very good no concerns , CT scan of pelvic area no concerns all looks good small kidney stone but no worries. I had an Ultra Sound of my testicles and all looked good very small cyst again not abnormal. I then was put on multiple antibiotics and last week went to a Proctologist and had a exam done in which he scoped , checked prostate manually and checked for other things. In the end said everything looked good no signs of any type of cancer , inflamed Hemroid or anything. He said to watch my diet , warm baths , lots of water and come back in 30 days if symptoms don't improve. The proctologist feels like its a very small Anal Fissure but couldn't really see anything.

What helps:
The warm bath does help and when I rest at home it feels better...

I am hoping someone can help me with their experience ? I have never had any type of problem with bowels etc.. This is a first and I am probably over thinking this and being impatient to let it heal.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi there. Sorry for the discomfort you are feeling. From experience, if it was a fissure, you would know! It's not discomfort, it is flat out horrible stabbing and radiating pain. You may have a very tiny tiny one and one hard BM may split it. Is it excruciating when you use the bathroom? Like you're passing glass, staples, and rocks lol? That's pretty much what a bm with a fissure feels like. Keep us posted

Thank you for the reply , I am not feeling in pain when using the bathroom. I have pain when sitting and even sometimes when moving around etc.. It has a tendency to really flare up and might calm down depending on my diet etc.. The specialist that I went to made the same comment you did he feels it's possibly very small as I am not having any issues while passing bowels. There are times after my bowel movement that it will burn for a little bit but passes. It's very irritated when sitting and just feels like there is something there most of the time.. I am probably stressing about it more than I should and creating more issues. It's was nothing like I had experienced like I mentioned strained very intensely and had a large bowel movement and now for the last five to six weeks have been dealing with this.. This first three to four days was the worst pain and now has calmed but still very annoying and uncomfortable. Thank you again , wasn't sure about posting on a board but at this point was hoping someone had past experience (not that I would want anyone to have any of these symptoms.. )

It's very possible it's a small one that's already begun to heal, which is good. You have the ability to heal it now before it comes back and becomes chronic (which usually requires the surgery). I would take warm sitz bath when you can. I would also increase you water intake. I'm a gallon or more a day. Continue eating healthy, because if it is a fissure that your body is trying to heal, you need all the vitamins and nutrients you could get. I tore mine weight lifting and then from a hard BM and boy did I know it. Worst pain of my life. Perhaps ask the doctor for a prescription for medical suppositories. Those will help any sort of issue, whether it's an internal hemmorhoid or small fissure. I would stay awake from heavy carbs and anythung processed and refined. Let your body rest and try to stop stressing, as that def makes it worse.

Thank you for the response , I have stopped drinking teas etc.. and switched to nothing but water in the last week and will up the intake. I do need to improve the diet and will start that as well.. I thought about taking a vitamin supplement but wasn't sure if that would be idea.
Thank you again helps to at least see if I am headed in the right direction.

No problem. A multivitamin can't hurt. Stay away from corn and anything bulky that the body can't digest. Also, as much as you may not want to, a nice leisurely walk will help. The doc told me that promotes healing of any issues because it brings blood to the area and helps it heal faster. No heavy lifting or squatting
