Fissure diagnosis

Postby Broken bum hole » 10 Jan 2017, 17:14

Just a quick one people.
Can a so called specialist diagnose anal fissures with a simple yet evil finger examination? I was told due to the pain I have that it's a fissure and to apply cream for 6 weeks. Sounds odd to me as originally I had gone to see about surgery for 3 stage 4 Hemorroids. Now I'm being told that nothing can be done for the hemorroids whilst the fissure is present. I'm gutted

That's how my CRS diagnosed my fissure. I had explained all of my symptoms, he did the digital exam, pressed on the place where fissures are usually located, and when I screamed, he knew that I had one. I had been seeing this doctor for many years in the treatment of internal hemmies (which were banded), and I have stage three hemmies as well.

I can understand that having to wait for the hemorrhoid surgery now would be very upsetting, so I'm sorry that this has happened to you. Hopefully, your fissure will heal quickly though, and you can get back on track for your hemorrhoidectomy.

Thanks for the reply. After 10 years of hemorroids, a failed banding, 3 hospital stays and a blood transfusion I really thought I was getting somewhere. I'm a big lad and ex boxer but admit this has had me crying. Just seems some professionals don't take into consideration the affect it has on our lifes

Hi BH,
Yes I can relate I have had hems for years and got this awful fissure nearly 2 years ago and I can safely say it's the worst pain I have ever experienced nothing else even comes close.
No most doctors don't understand the impact this has on our lives...worrying every time we eat, what to eat, when we will go to the toilet how bad it will be after. It basically rules every decision we make.

Hi Mypoorbutt
Wow 2 years is crazy. My fissure has been less than a week and convinced was caused by a sygmoidoscopy. For me the pain is not the major issue for me it's the fact that my hemorroids like to prolapse at random times and bleed for days. The whole situation is horrendous. Think I need to face facts that fissures do not heal easily!

Hi,
No most peoples fissures heal within 6 weeks it's even quicker if your not getting too much pain as that means your not spasming so the blood can flow and you will heal quicker. Has your doctor given you some cream to put on it

Hi
Yes was given cream to relax and told it can reduce the hemorroids at the same time. Hope it does as they seem to be in the way. I almost feel guilty for complaining after reading what some people are going through on here.

I'm sure the cream will sort it out, you caught it early and that's the most important thing. The sooner you start to treat a fissure the quicker they heal. My hems can really impact my fissure. I use colonial silver on a cotton wool and that does bring the swelling down after a few days.

Thanks for the advice I will definitely give the colonial silver a go. I wish I had come here for advice sooner.
