Can antibiotics cause constipation? I took some for 10 days early March, after a plastic surgery. The day after my surgery, my fissure reopened, but I feel I constipated because of the general anesthesia, and at that time I didn't have any kind of soft laxative.

I think we become more vulnerable when our lifestyle changes in general. If you have been hospitalised + took antibiotics, it could be enough for your body to start to be constipated. If you've been bed ridden for few days, it does agravate since the digestive movements slow in general.

To answer your question, yes I have a skin tag, but when not inflammed it doesn't bother me. My fissure is in the back. Also my fissure started, I believe when I was pregnant with my 2nd, 3 years ago. However, it might have been hemorroids. I remember after my 2 deliveries the nurses gave me a tube of cream for that. And it wasn't painful like the fissure. I didn't have any spasms, that's for sure.

In which country are you?

I live in Canada and Botox is offered, but not in all hospitals, so if I would want it, I would need a refferal and god knows after how long I would see a doctor for the procedure.

In my case, I'm pretty sure Botox would be only temporary. Could work for months, even a year but the fissure would eventually reappear.

Is there a reason besides the fissure that they want to do a colonoscopy to check for other problems? Like do you have a lot of diarrhea and stomach aches?

My fissure was first caused by antibiotic induced constipation. To this day I regret not taking a stronger laxative to fix things and relying too much on flaxseed powder. I still avoid flaxseed because it made my stool harder and lumpy.

Missy moo: My nifedipine ointment is 0.3% concentration.

Patience and healing, I've been told yesterday both the Mri and colonoscopy would confirmed or not the presence of fistula, abcess and Chron's. I told my dr I've found this weird as I have 0 symptoms of Chrons, nor fistula. But I will need to pass those tests.

I also told her I don't mind the MRI before the surgery, but The colonoscopy would have to be after my fissurectomy. Yesterday I was supposed to be sedated for my short one, but I felt everything, it was just 50% numb because of the xylocain. I know that for the long one the sedation is strong, I saw the effect it had yesterday on other patients.

Anyway, I'm super happy because tomorrow I have my first consultation with my CRS! Since the beggining I'm followed by a gastroenterologist who doesn't surgeries.

Yes it's yellow in a Vaseline base. I don't see any white spots though.

They crush the pills and mix them in Vaseline to make an ointment.

Did you get instructions from the doctor about how to use it? Twice a day would be the minimum to use it.
