I have a GP appt in a few weeks. Soonest I could get in for a non-emergent situation unfortunately.

Hopefully it is just an adjustment period as you say. Things seem so unpredictable right now. Anywhere from 1-5 BMs a day with same med routine and no major dietary changes. Wish I could make things more predictable.

Update. Miralax seems to be working better. Softer BMs for the most part until today when I had a firmer one and tore again despite a double dose of miralax and 200mg of docusate yesterday.

Is this odd or does it happen? Does it mean my body is already too used to the miralax after only a couple weeks and I need a triple dose now? Frustrated as I thought I finally found an interim solution until I have the LIS!

Unfortunately even using Miralax doesn't always guarantee the same consistency each time. I don't think your body is used to it though. By the way, have you ever had a colonoscopy done to check for any other possible issues?

I had a colonoscopy done in between when they thought it healed the first time and it re-tore during the procedure and hasn’t healed since then.

They said there was some small non significant diverticula due to the constipation but no inflammation or signs of any other serious bowel disorders.

I'm not surprised that you re-tore after the colonoscopy. They are after all sticking a camera up there. It's good that they didn't find anything though. I was asking in case there is a physical reason for the constipation. Have you ever been diagnosed with IBS? There can be certain foods that cause the bowel to get backed up and it might be helpful to know what those are so you can avoid them.

I have never been formally diagnosed with IBS. A few years ago my family doctor offhandedly said “maybe you have IBS” (back when I was opposite and having 4 soft BMs a day - and they thought that was an issue, I miss those good old days. Lol).

I started taking medication for GERD and quickly went from 4 a day to 2 a day. Then about 10 months later I quit smoking and it’s been 1 a day if I am lucky ever since. One doctor I saw said that was pretty normal because cigarettes act as a laxative but that people’s bodies usually adjust. 2 years later I am still in the same boat.
