I went to emerg once when the pain from a thrombosed hemmie AND a fissure together became too much. One of the doctors numbed the area with local anaesthetic, and I was so grateful to be rid of the pain, but he had to inject in about 20 places, with about 20 needle pokes, and it was quite painful. But since my pain was completely unbearable, I was quite alright with that! After both LIS and my hemorrhoidectomy, I had percocets for the first and hydromorphone for the other. Both are opioids that constipate, but I countered that with Restorlax/Miralax, and had no hard stools at all. Coming up with a correct dosage of the laxative though, is hard, and I think that I was just lucky to try the right amount on the first go. Good luck with your decision.

Ah I see yes there was someone on who the board a few months ago who had LIS with just the numbing shots and he said it went okk.
He seemed to have a smooth recovery and hadn’t been on for a while.
Oh yes the system in the uk is both slow and complicated. Most hospitals insist on doing Botox at least twice before they agreed to LIS so the time from seeing the surgeon first to getting a LIS could be up to 4 years. Hence why I paid to see a private surgeon after 18 months

No worries, I found one person with local numbing and he said only the first shot was painful but tolerable. He recovered well.
