Hi Katie, rarely I have days where I feel a little discomfort like pressure, but I think this happens if I lift something heavy the previous day or if I do extensive lower body exercises. I think it will take months for the muscles to adjust back to normal and also for the surgical cut to heal and all the nerves to reattach.

I hope that is the case for everyone Hopefull123.

The pain (I believe are spasms) I get after a bowl movement are really wearing me down. Being constipated doesn't help.

Wishing strength and a quick recovery to everyone.

Yes, these are spasms, Mike. Although for me at this point they are barely noticible, but still there. The full recovery is very slow for sure. We have to have patience and know that our bodies naturally recover themselves.

Any idea why I'm having these spasms?

So can this subside and resolve over time?

Any advice from your experience to help with the spasms?

You are having spasms because you had a severe anal injury. In your case a fistula. Then you had a surgery there which is traumatic to the body and that area. Plus, unfortunately this area is even slower to recover because you are using it everyday to poop. Usually it takes 6 months for the body, muscles, tissues to recover from surgery. Sometimes even longer.

I'm sorry to hear that Katie I also have been seeing blood with some discomfort it's my time of month too an this is also my pattern it must be because of the pressure caused by this time of month that affects the fissure

Katie, are you BMs super smooth, very hydrated and with no lumps whatsoever? I only ask because I have just realised after all this time that I am constipated when I would have sworn that I wasn't. The thing is, I'm as regular as clockwork every morning, have never ever had to strain to get a BM out, and they seem to be well formed like number 4 on the Bristol scale. BUT, when I started to pay attention to them, it turned out that they felt a little bit dryer than BMs after laxatives. I decided to take laxatives systematically every 3-4 days and I have since noticed a great improvement. My fissure has healed (for the time being) and the pain is definitely reducing. Anyway I thought I would suggest it to you in case you are doing the same thing as me and having unidentified constipation which is making your fissure re-open.

I'm ok at the min it always gets a little sore when I'm due on! Did a bit of research and everything swells up when women are due on so that explains it but feeling really good at the min x
