Good for you, keep doing what works. Did the doctor tell you to keep taking softeners?

Yes, the doctor and nurse did recommend continuing the stool softener. I go back in 10 days for a follow-up. I'll find out then what he recommends going forward.

I highly recommend Dr. Nadler at St. Clair Hospital in the Pittsburgh, PA area. He knows what he's doing when it comes to fissures.

I had a somewhat difficult BM yesterday. First difficult one since surgery. There was a little blood, very little, but I'm sure it aggravated my fissure, which obviously hasn't completely healed yet. It's only been two weeks since surgery so it is understandable that it hasn't.

My BMs are unpredictable and even when taking stool softener I will occasionally have a difficult one. It's hard to heal a fissure when your BMs aren't soft and consistent. There was very little after-bm pain and only 3/10 pain during.

Everybody experience hard stools occasionally, even if taking softeners or laxatives. It is what it is and you cannot predict that. This is what causes so many people to retear. I wish medicine will advance faster on this field...

Dnank, how are you doing now? I have surgery on Tuesday Jun 18th and I’m terrified.

I'm doing well. I only had a few bad days, which started with the enema prep before surgery. The day of/after surgery was not bad at all, but the first BM was bad followed by a couple bad days. Then I started on the path to getting better and better. I haven't had any more bad days since. I definitely think it was worth it but my fissure is still not completely healed. It's less painful now after surgery. I'm hoping it heals soon.

At my follow-up appointment, the doctor said that it wouldn't have been as painful if he didn't also have to remove a skin tag. The lis procedure really doesn't cause much pain, at least it didn't in my case.

Same. Still not normal but better than before lis. I had a chronic af for 5 years before I tried lis. If I had done it sooner, I think I would be even better by now. LIS was totally worth it.
