Painful BM this morning. Stool was more formed, is that why it hurt more? There was a lot of stinging and it felt like it did before the surgery except so far no spasms. Is this normal??

I've not had surgery..but may. However the fact your spasms are gone is a great sign!

Yes, I have been happy about that. It was sore for a few hours after but not throbbing like it used to.

Post Op Day 5
Ibuprofen again at 3:30 am. BM this morning was painful. Pain at a 5-6. Felt like the pain I had before my surgery which is disappointing. Lots of stinging. Blood on stool and wipes. The stool was more formed today and I suppose that’s because I didn’t do any miralax yesterday. I’m assuming that’s why it hurt more also??? The pain, though milder after the BM, lasted for about 2 hours but just stinging and sore, no throbbing. Rest of the day uneventful. I ate basically the same things I’ve been eating except that for lunch I had Hawaiian rice and pulled pork. It was not overly flavored or spicy or anything so we’ll see how that digests. I am trying to get more calories than I’ve been eating. I need to gain some weight which is something I’d never thought I’d say. I did get 22 grams of fiber and 47 grams of protein. Drank 70+ ounces of water. Ibuprofen throughout the day. Ice packs, heating pad, sitz baths, shower head. 2 stool softeners. Thank you those of you who are reading this diary and those of you offering advice and encouragement and answering my questions. The support makes this easier to get through.

Thanks for keeping us updated. At least ,although there is pain, there is no throbbing. A good time for you to catch up on reading,..or movies ...I'm sure when I have surgery, I'll have bed time to learn a new language etc.
My sitz baths actually bring on additional pain with me..right between anus and groin...
I wish you a complete recovery!(like it never happened!)

Oh and I’m sorry about the sitz baths. My surgeon was adamant about me doing them after the surgery. He said it would promote healing.

Post Op Day 6
Today has been the roughest day I’ve had so far. This morning I woke up and had a near perfect bowel movement with minimal pain. I was stupid and added flaxseed to my oatmeal and that was a HUGE mistake. It burned my stomach and then I had diarrhea. The bowel movement hurt and I’ve bled the rest of the day and although the bleeding isn’t horrible it’s more than what it has been. My stomach hurt the rest of the day. My hemorrhoid/fissure side hurt the rest of the day. Apparently flaxseed does not agree with my body. I feel like this is a slight setback. But I’m going to push through. I still only had ibuprofen today but I also took antiacid. The rest of the day I ate what I’ve been eating. I had beef stew for lunch though...only ate one tiny piece of meat and then I ate the veggies and potatoes in the stew. I’ve had this before the surgery so I’m hoping it goes well for tomorrow’s bowel movement. Still drank tons of water, sitz baths, etc.

Why did you take antacid?

Abu, I took it because the flaxseed was burning my stomach up. Any time I get a feeling like that in my stomach I take antacid. It helped.
