Hi, so I'm new to the forum but not really. About 12 years ago I had LIS procedure, unfortunately it was not succesful. I still had 2 fissures and lost all heart. The CRS I had 12 years ago did not want to do a second LIS and just gave me creams. I always wonder if he cut enough to relax the muscle? After all this ordeal I found this beautiful and wonderful forum. Learned so much and got lots of advice and support. After the surgery it took me about 6 years to heal . Miralax , good diet always , and zinc oxide a daily part of my life. My life went back to normal, no more horrific pain Well I went out of town June 14th and I got a horrible stomach bug, lots of diarrhea. Well the consequences of the diarrea brought that old familiar feeling. 2 open fissures now. The pain is horrible and all I can do is lie down.
I go back to work August 12 and I'm freaking out. Started Nitroglycerin ointment 2% with lidocane yesterday. Has anyone out there had 2 LIS surgeries? I feel so hopeless. Sorry for the long post.

Hi Fern just checking to see how you're holding up. Is the nitro helping you? I think you have a good chance at getting back to a pain-free or low-pain state quickly because you started treatment soon after the fissures flared up. I hope things are getting better.

Hi MBH84, thanks for checking up on me. I feel the pain is not as bad as a couple days ago. Still have that hot knife feeling throughout the day, but no longer have that tight butt feeling. Finally have only 1 BM a day. I started using the squatty potty and I feel it helps me eliminate everything. A couple days ago I was having to go BM 15 mins after 1st BM, very annoying and painful. I reached out to you in another post you made but now I can't find my reply. I think you mention you back to CRS for Botox Aug 2nd. I hope it all goes well for you, wish you much success. I go to my new CRS after 12 years on June 24. I feel I'm healing slowly so I'm so terrified the check alone down there will re-tear whatever little progress I've made. My biggest ordeal is going back to work. I go back August 8 sooner than what I thought. I thought I had to go back to work on the 12. These fissures take a real emotional and mental strain on me apart from the horrific physical pain. Well at least I'm down to crying 3 times a day and not 12 times a day for now. How is it there's no cure for this except for LIS and not even because it did not work for me? Life's unanswered questions. I think you mentioned in your other post you have 2 little ones. I admire you so much! I work with Pre-k children at a school. Lots of physical work involved, squatting , sitting on the floor, bending down , running really quick at times. I love my job. Really hoping I'm better by August. 12 years ago I had to quit my job because of anal fissures. I hope our futures are bright and full of healing. Hoping you have much success at your CRS botox apointment Aug 2nd and hoping that puts an end to these appointments and suffering.

Hi Fern, how are you doing? How are you feeling about going back to work? You must have a lot of patience to be a pre-k teacher! That job would be too hard for me even without a fissure. I hope things are improving for you and you're able to work without too much butt pain!

Hi there MBH84,
I'm hanging in there. Still dealing with pain in the bum. More like spasms with pain during the time of the spasms. I started work yesterday but with out the kids. The kids come back in next Thursday. Hope it all goes well. Hope I get a good class.
The fissures have affected me mentally. I'm always sad I cry at night wishing I didn't have these fissures. I was prescribed zoloft but the Dictor said it might affect my stomach or cause diarrea. I'm like what????? Diarrea! Now I'm scared to take it. Doc said to start with a half pill. Now I'm scared. Don't want to take anything that will set me back with this whole fissure issue.

I've been taking zoloft since Dec 2022. I started it because I was very depressed after my second child was born. I think it helped, along with therapy and time. I didn't have any diahrrea from it. I think that is a possible side effect of a lot of meds, but if you're on a low dose it's probably not likely. I take 50mg per day.

Unfortunately I took a half of a 25 MG, and it gave me diarrea going on 2 days now. I think I have a very sensitive stomach. Now my fissures really, really hurt. What ever healing I was doing it was just set back by the diarrea these last 2 days. How are you? How is it going since the Botox?

I'm sorry, that's awful. I hope you can find another way to cope with the mental/emotional issues that fissures cause.

I've thought about going to a therapist just to talk about how my fissure effects my mental state. I haven't because I hate talking about it and I don't think a therapist would understand.

I'm actually doing pretty well. I had some pain from the skin tag removal for about a week. It's been 10 days now and the pain is mostly gone. I think the botox is kicking in because pooping feels a little easier. Like things are less tight in there.

I'm thinking of therapy too, but like you sometimes I just don't want to talk about it. Lots of times talking about it leads to crying.
I'm glad you're doing better. Do you think it's necessary to take a couple days of workbwhen given Botox as an option? Did you go back to your regular routine?

If it's just botox I don't think it's usually needed to take time off. It just takes a little while to start working, but you shouldn't be in more pain from it.
