going in for botox tomorrow

Postby recovering88 » 15 Oct 2024, 15:00

hi everyone!
i am going in for botox tomorrow for a 2month+ fissures (posterior and anterior, just my luck) that have refused to heal ><. i have done everything "conservative": sitz bath, miralax, higher/lower fiber, healthy diet/hydration, squatty potty, nifedipine, dilitiazem, and still persistent fissures so came to the botox conclusion...........i have been on medical leave in october and likely will take november as well due to the pain of the fissure (and inability to sit/limited mobility).

i can keep this post with daily updates if that would be helpful for people starting tomorrow - wish me luck! i hope this begins my healing journey finally.....

hi everyone will update the days so far

day 0 procedure day
- had procedure at 815A, had to arrive around 715A to outpatient surgery center
- was instructed to not eat/drink after midnight, did have to administer enema before procedure
- was under anesthesia and total operating time was around 30 minutes
- got 100U injected in 4 quadrants
- felt a bit nauseous after procedure, threw up after going home and took a nap
- ate light lunch and dinner
- groggy most of day
- took tylenol as pain killers
- took normal 2 tsp miralax

day 1 post procedure
- didn't poop today (strange for me) but nurse from hospital said that is normal re anesthesia
- was a bit tired today but didnt have any pre procedure pain / fissure pain
- some stinging likely at injection sites
- took tylenol to manage pain throughout day
- took miralax 1 cap as instructed

day 2 post procedure
- 0 pain when pooping! first for me since having the fissure
- finally able to sit down for short periods, feel sore afterward but is normal
- area where injected looks bruised
- took cap miralax at night

day 3 post procedure
- 0 pain when pooping again! had to poop 2x today (likely bc upped miralax) and still no pain! really happy about that
- botox seems to already be kicking in
- able to sit down and lay down on bottom (couldnt do this pre procedure without pain)
- took 2 tsp miralax at night

it is still really early and i am taking it day by day, but the past few days of pain free poops (which again i havent had since before the fissure) are super promising! will see how next few days go, i have a follow up with my CRS on weds ( a week from procedure) will keep you all posted :)
