I’ve been dealing with an anal fissure for 6 months now and I am still not healed. I have improved in maybe 85% to 90%, and I am very happy about it, of course, but I just don’t understand why I am not 100% recovered and healed.
I’ve done so many things to help my condition, and I know it’s because of them that I have gotten better, but I want to hear your comments and perhaps other suggestions to help me be done with it. I know everyone is different and everyone heals at different times, and that’s very clear to me.
I will sum up my story and the things I’ve done, so that this post is not eternally long. Got diagnosed with a 6 o’clock anal fissure by a colorectal surgeon, 1 month and a week after I tore. I did the compound cream he sent for 12 weeks and it barely helped. I got Botox injections and that did help, but pain is still there til today. I’ve done all the natural ointments and oils. I’ve cleaned my diet very well to the point that I only have 1 BM a day and it’s very soft and easy to pass, no straining, relaxing muscles, breathing correctly, etc. No issues with this. It barely hurts now when I go. I also do miralax every day. I do red light and infrared light therapy for 30 mins once a day, every day. I do the bidet cleaning, water wipes, sitz baths, Epsom salts, gentle cleaning; hot and cold compresses, multiple times a day; I go for walks and I am active a lot during my day (for blood flow, etc.). I’ve gone to a pelvic floor physical therapist and I do the exercises to relax my muscles. I’ve read and watched everything there is online, including all YouTube videos of Dr. Chong, the Friendly Proctologist.
I do have a skin tag and sometimes it disappears and sometimes it’s there. It causes a lot of pain at times and I’ve stopped putting creams, oils, ointments (but I do use them only once after having BM) because I’ve been messing with my bottom end for months and I know now that this is the cause of my skin tag pain. Sometimes I wonder if the pain I feel is from the skin tag or if it’s from the fissure.
There are days now when I have no pain at all and all day long, and there are other days when I have pain. THING IS: I have been taking ibuprofen and acetaminophen for this entire time. As soon as I go, I take the pill. I only take 400 mgs of ibu. and 500 mgs of aceta., and I alternate one day the one, and the next day, the other. I know it’s not high doses, but it does block my real level of pain. I did go one day without any pain killers to see the real level of pain, and it wasn’t nice, the entire day. So I guess my fissure is still there then and I’m not healed. I hate the pain and I don’t want to go without it… yet. I’m scared of letting that go.
Anyhow, why am I still in pain?!? Advice, please?
