Fiss -
I was on the board alot this weekend because I was bed ridden. Anyways, I read just about every surgery post ever written on this board (including your old ones) and someone actually posted this last year and I watched it yesterday!
I actually loved this video! I love watching this stuff! I just can't figure out why the cut is on the outside? It is called an Internal Lateral Sphincterotomy. I have not looked, but I don't feel like my cut is on the outside. Also, in the video, there were stiches put it - is this the difference between an open & closed shincterotomy? Either way, this video still rocks!
Also, I have assisted with about 50 vasectomies. The doctor that I helped out used to cauterize the vas deferens after he cut them. He told me not everyone did this last step and it was difference that the vas deferens might grow back compared to the deffinatly won't grow back. I wonder if the same goes for sphincterotomies. In this video, the doctor cauterized the muscle. I wonder if that means those of us who's LIS did not work, sphincters were NOT cauterized (which most the time prevents the regrowth of mucsle). If you were not cauterized, it does not mean your muscle will grow back, it just means there is more of a chance of it. I hope I am making scence. I am just comparing this surgery with other procedures I am familiar with.
Thanks for digging up this video!!!
