It does seem like botox is not a single cure-all for most. That more than one dose is needed to allow the area to heal. I remember praying before my CRS appts that she could see some healing. Even if it wasn't closed completely at least I got some reassurance that it was at least smaller.

I think if you are really that tight it is time for more cream or more botox. I wonder why they don't suggest using the cream and botox tandemly? It wouldn't hurt and might have better yield with healing.

It’s a fine line my friend, please do all you can for yourself this week, maybe you could use some nitro ?? try some prunes ?? baked apples ??

Spot on Tabby! It is so what I fear too.
I believe that I am too tight, and that even if I heal the chance of retearing is big. I have actually bled on/off for almost 9 years during BM, and that must be because it is tight. If that is the case I think that LIS is the thing to do, but since my CRS is negative about doing that on me, I guess I will have another shot of Botox if that is necessary.
I agree with you Fissy, pain = fissure, and even though I feel that pain level during the day is OK, I know that the ugly fissure is there. Why else should it be blod, heavy burning after BM, and that fantastic ripping sensation at the beginning of every BM. And when I go more that once (like today when I had to go to the hospital for iron transfusion = stress = multiple BM) I have worse pain, more like the good old fissure pain.
The thing is that I am so fed up with this now, I want to be able to live normal again, work out, go back to work, be more with friends, enjoy good food and a glass of wine. So fed up with this fissure diet.
And no, I haven't found the magic diet that makes soft BM, or I have trouble getting the first part of it soft. I am so fed up! I know I shouldn't complain, so many people are worse off...
I have wondered if I should start with nitro again...but he told me to quit, I am confused. Maybe I would try the psyllium again, but maybe half a spoon?
Prunes? I love prunes, but there is something in dried fruit that gives me a terribel stomach ache. The list of what I cannot eat is getting longer every day... I drink 2 - 3 smoothies these days (with avocado, mango, pears, kiwi, etc.)
Or maybe I should buy a new butt, a new colon and new head (I don't know which one is in worst shape).
Sorry to be a party pooper, but I feel blue. I really thought I was healing.
Thanks for all of you good thoughts Image all of you

Tabby -
I know exactly what you mean. I remember when both you and I thought we were healed from our creams, only to go off them and have the fissure return! Those creams were great, but worked like a band aid - the symptoms were only covered up.
Corisica -
Did you ever have your mamonetry test? Has the doctor talked more about LIS?
Do you have a very distinct ripping sensation with BMs? I did - I could just feel my skin rip down there, and I tried to explain it to doctors but they did not know what I was talking about. I can still feel the skin stretch with large BMs. I know it is hard on you with the diet - tryiing to conform to the fissure diet plus the celiac diet, but just hang in there Corsi - You will heal on day. Don't give up.
Have you tried Benefiber? Do they have that in Norway? It has worked really well for me.

corsi - i'm sorry you're having such a tough time!! it's so frustrating to think yo'ure healing and then be discouraged again. try to keep your hopes up...maybe things ARE still healing down there... you might need another shot of botox, most people need more than 1 to significantly heal.
i know EXACTLY what you guys are talking about - the ripping feeling at the beginning of the BM. i always thought the was the "hard-tipped poo". but now i realize it's just the poo itself (hard or not) chafing against the fissure inside. it's always initially painful for me. the rest of the BM doesn't hurt, except for that first irritating part. for me, that's the part that stays inflamed inside. my dr has seen it when he does the scope. i have NO IDEA how to get that to heal inside.

Corsy :( - how can you say that you are a party pooper Image !!!!! This place IS the place to spill out ones frustration and get support - all the small talk in between is just that - a small talk ! It is very frustrating to deal with fissure , it is just the most perfect torture device ever invented !!!! I know I would admit anything just to get rid of it forever !!!!! At least I would be locked -up and healthy and not locked-up and in pain :( :( :( ! And I can only imagine how many food restrictions you must have due to your Celiac and now fissure - it is just maddening ! I certainly know how hard it is to deal with multiple health issues and "head" inevitably suffers Image
Jen suggested Benefiber - it would work better than psyllium , but although it is supposedly gluten free - it is said that it would not be advisable for celiac patients to use it . I would really suggest that you try Colace -it is not habit forming and is very gentle . It makes poop soft all the way since it keeps the water in the guts.
I really hope that your butt will start to cooperate very soon and that second round of botox will give you the final resolution !!! LIS is performed even on Crohn patients, not the first choice , of course, but if it comes to that - IT IS your option.
Best of luck Image Image Image !!!!!!

I know sometimes I think my poop must be really hard because it still hurts the scar area from the surgeries every d@mn day! But I look in the toilet and it looks very tame.

I wonder if it is time for a second opinion, Corsi. I don't think that your doctor was against you using nitro most likely in conjuction but maybe it is probably standard to tell patients to discontinue it although some patients could benefit from it. I know after my doctor told me my fissure was healed I still used it for several months.
