Hi Pinky,
Good to hear you are continuing to get better before your trip. I take fish
oil caps. which have Omega 3 in them. They say it is good for you to take
for health but I haven't noticed any changes or change in bm with it.
:)

Yep, I take omega 3s. It helps with inflammation and helps the poop kind of slide out better.
I told one of my daughters that it makes you smarter (because of the DHA) and she wanted to try it. Then she said, I don't feel any smarter!! She thought it would be instant. I have heard great things about Omega 3s for mental acuity but I must have a stubborn case because I still suffer from CRS. (Can't Remember Sh*t). Image

That's hilarious. Kids are so literal! My dad would always say when I was a kid "Don't take it so literally" and for years I had no clue what he meant by that!!!

If oil is expelled from fish - there should be no difference in bio-availability to the body. Absolutely none Image . I even think that pharmaceutical grade fish-oil is safer since it is cleared of all contaminants - especially Mercury which actually can do massive nerve and brain damage !!! Here in CA there is warning above fresh fish (like salmon, tuna
and such) that pregnant women should not eat it more than twice a week Image

Fiss -
Do you know if all the fish oil/omega 3 pills are cleaned of mercury. I have always wonderd that. I that one pill a day, but I wonder if it is hurting me because of mercury...I know that is silly, but it is always on my mind. My omega 3-6-9 pills say they contain salmon oil.

It is not silly at all !!!!!! Mercury is heavy metal and accumulates in tissues !!!! That is why big fish have it the most - because they are on the top of food chain. They eat a lot of small fish and accumulate mercury from them little by little until they have so much that they become toxic to eat by humans Image Mercury is especially damaging to developing embryo - that is why it is not advised to pregnant women to eat a lot of sword fish and other big ocean fish. Now - on the other side, it is proven that babies whose mothers had fish-oil supplementation during pregnancy had babies with higher IQ - this all are not facts from some "alternative medicine" book but from real medical studies. Was many times on TV and radio. For some reason I am health -news fanatic LOL - always was , even when I was in perfect health - medicine always fascinated me .
Anyway -I am blabbing all of this just so you know that I do not tell stuff "of the top of my head " buddy , I really do research about all that stuff and always check at least 10 sources before making any definite conclusion. You are very smart to wonder about your omega capsules !!!! Not silly at all !!!!!!!! I do not know what kind do you use , but if it does not say explicitly on the bottle that they are Mercury free, or "pharmaceutical grade" - they probably ARE NOT MERCURY FREE !!! Now don't panic buddy if you took wrong kind - just stop using them and buy high quality ones , like "Nordic Naturals" .

Oh Fissy - I know you just don't get this stuff off the top of your head. Thats why I always ask you things. You always seem to know stuff like telling us about the liver issues when taking mineral oil and colace. I like all the information!
I just read my bottle and it does not say mercury free. I need to find some better ones. I want to try to concieve soon, and I want to take fish oil during my pregnancy because I heard about the babies increased IQ.

I like Nordic Naturals too or Carlson's. Those are tested for heavy metal and don't smell fishy. If it smells fishy when you open the bottle then the fish oil is rancid.
I take a fish oil that has lemon in it by Carlson's and does not taste fishy at all. I take two tablespoons a day.
