Clever question Jen.even i never thought about it.if it has mercury in the caps,im not sure how toxic they can be.
Fissy-you shouldve been a doctor.think of all the patients who'd benefit from such a knowledgable doctor.

What makes the bm painful? Does it feel hard or scratchy when it comes out? Does it hurt while it comes out or afterwards? How long does it hurt?
I think you need to expect some pain here and there as it takes a year after surgery for that area to really rebound and strengthen. That is what my doctor told me.
I would take 1 teaspoon in the am and 1 in the pm of the flaxseed oil. I had really good results with that.

Lecia-i dont know whats causing the pain which is why im so worried.Poops are thin like the little finger or sometimes thinner than that(sorry for the description).its a sharp pain when it comes out and throughout the bm and the pain persists for 10-15mins afterwards.i eat soft, well cooked food.hubby had a look and says its almost healed outside but still healing inside.he cant see how much inside.
ill tell my hubby to get the flaxseed oil tonight when he returns from work.how does it taste?

I think it might be better to compare weeks rather than day to day because one bad day can make you feel like you aren't getting anywhere. I have my husband look too just to give myself a sanity check because sometimes I am in pain and I think I must have ripped it open and he will look and say it looks the same. We even took pictures for awhile. But you are right, it is hard to look inside. I wish my hubby were a doctor so he could maybe do an anoscopy and peek and make sure things were okay.
After 15 minutes does the pain go away completely?
If your poops are thin like that I think you might not be getting enough fiber. Can you eat a fiber cereal in the morning? Flax seed oil tastes kind of nutty. It isnt offensive at all.
Magnesium is great too but it sounds like your poops are soft already. Do you have to strain with the thin poops? I know I do. If it is thin and sludgy it is harder to push out so you have to engage the muscles more.
You are right-I wish Fissy were a doctor. I would go see her in a heartbeat. Can we send her to medical school?

I take a chelated form of magnesium called mag. glycinate because it is supposed to be absorbed better, but it is hard to find. I think any form would be fine to use though. Just start slowly.
Do you take probiotics?
