Pinky Image
That's what we always ask ourselves: what we are doing wrong? I don't think we are, it's just that getting the less painful pooh is difficult, and what works one day may cause disaster the next day.
The way to healing is a bumpy road Pinky Image don't give up. Periods are a nightmare fissurewise I think.

Hey buddies LOL - thank you , thank you , thank you Image , ha ha, oh boy , you are really so sweet - how on earth would I have a practice with so many maladies Image - or maybe I would be a PERFECT doctor since I would be able to show it all on my own body - sort of "walking 3D medical lexicon" ha ha ha. Hey , but thanks, you made me feel very useful this morning and it is great feeling Image Image Image . My Sister told me yesterday that God could not make me go to medical school even though I was meant to be a doctor and help people , so the only other way he could make me help was by putting me in this position so I would help anyway LOL. Maybe it is so - at least some use of me after all Image ! Love you guys Image !!!
Pinky - did they ever diagnosed you with "tilted uterus" ? I have one and I never knew how much actually it os tilted until I saw my MRI. I mean - it literary is resting its top on my colon Image My fissure ALWAYS reopened during my periods, and I had those thin poops during my periods. I think that there are 2 explanations for that. First, hormones do effect GI, that is given - during pregnancy it is most obvious ! There is no doubt about that. Estrogen and progesterone affect all of our tissues - including water retention levels. During PMS and during period we are "bloated" - our tissues "swell" and not only uterine wall . Everything gets plumper and more supple. I think that our rectal mucosa becomes more swollen same way. Second - "cramping hormones" ! I think that those for some reason effect colon too - that is why some girls get diarrhea during period, some constipation - GI changes are obvious in any case. So, combination of swollen uterus that is pressing on swollen rectum that is cramping on top of everything is causing poop to be painful and thin - it has to pass through cramped and swollen rectum and nio matter how soft it is -it is PAINFUL :( :( :( . You are doing nothing wrong Pinky - it is just that our body is so sensitive now there and smallest changes make it painful Image .
The most important thing is to continue what are you doing anyway - take extra water, keep it soft BUT, try to use some muscle relaxant to effect cramping of your uterus and rectum. Valerian herbs can help - also heat. If you need more , ask your doctor for a Valium . Couple of my CRSs told me that V. relaxes rectal spasms and they had no trouble prescribing it - it was me that refused it _ STUPID FISSY !!!!!! After second surgery I was in so much pain that I just gave in and I asked for Valium and it made a major difference in my spasms. Lecia , I think found that Flexaril helps with cramping too ?!
So, dear Pinky - there are some more things that you might try. Mg also relaxes muscles , and yes Mg glycinate is the best. Take some Motrin or Ibuprofen for pain , if your stomach can tolerate them - prostaglandins are best controlled if you take those meds at the first sign of pain or cramping and taken continually until period passes. That way body stops producing them continually. A lot of pain causes even more cramping since whole body tightens up due to the pain.
I am almost 100% sure that your rectum is in spasm, although you might not feel it - only tight rectum and sphincter can make your poop pencil thin and you must try to relax it - either use Valerian and heat pads , or Valium and such. I do not think that fiber is advisable now - bulky poop will just make even more pressure in your over-tight
anal area Image . As long as it is soft and you are regular - poop by itself is not to blame. It is crampy, swollen rectum Image !!!!
I hope it will all subside very fast - just hang in and try all of the above Image As long as your poop does not make you bleed or over stretch - you are safe buddy !!!
Have to run out......ugh... - let us know how are you doing !!!!!

Lecia-i have yoghurt which has live cultures(lactobacillus and bifidobacterium)i just eat around3-4tsp of yoghurt as im scared of getting constipated but i havent had yoghurt for the last 1 week except yest due to sorethroat.wondering if thats the fault?i eat brown bread for breakfast or weetabix(hate it,too bland but i add a little sugar)i might be getting atleast 12-14gms of fibre a day apart from veggies.its worked before to keep stools soft.its getting worse with weeks.its been like this for the last 1 week.the pain sometimes usually subsides and a dullache remains for hrs.i dont want my hubby to look inside as he'll have to stretch my bum and its too painful for me.ill try to eat some bran flakes for breakfast.i dont have to strain,i sit and it comes out.u were telling me about scratchy poo.how do i know if its sratchy and what to do for that?how are you feeling?

Tabby-do you have problems with ur butt like me during periods?

Corsi-ive thought and thought and thought everything i put into my mouth and i try to see what ive eaten wrong.i pretty much eat the same everyday so its hard to know why somedays the poops are perfectly soft like toothpaste and sometimes they are thin.who can understand this system?

We posted together fissy.wow fiss,im impressed with your explanation and hopeful it will all subside after my periods.you make me laugh so much fissy.a awalking 3d med lex Image sorry, dont mean to make fun of ur situation.
so,u have the retroverted uterus.my uterus was anteverted last time i saw.
do you get dysmenorrhoea?
You think my sphincter is in spasm???????oh no,not after LIS.
i was just crying in front of my hubby and he feels very bad that i have to go through all this and there seems to be no end.
We were adviced by an astrologer not to move home after 5th month of pregnancy.its a belief in india that a pregnant woman shud give birth in the same house(hosp birth but stay in the same house) exception is mum's house or else it mishap befalls the mother or child.he's predicted so much accurately and we sometimes wonder how he can know the future.he's 99% correct in everything he predicted.he even predicted the operation in sept.now hubby blames himself for not listening to him and feels responsible.i ask God if im such a bad person.we are humans and we all do make mistakes and even i have but i try never to hurt another person intentionally.even if someone hurts me,i just close them away from my life and dont wish them bad.i know some who've done so many bad things but are happy without much problems.wish i cud understand.i know some of you here have more problems than me and i shud stop complaining.
hope my butt wont trouble me every period.ill be more careful next time and try to relax with mg or valium.
thanks fiss Image Image

OK, I am back !!!!
Where was I... aham ! Hey, it is OK to laugh Pinky - that is my other duty here LOL, to make people laugh. So I will be a doctor in the clown costume Image Image - I bet I would have very "special" clientele Image
Anyways lol -I have menorrhagia, very heavy menstrual bleeding Image.
Don't get upset regarding your spasms - they are now much weaker after the LIS and should not hinder your overall healing Image Even I get them - like right now when I have PMS ! But now I do take care of them - I try all natural ways (Valerian, heat, Mg etc., if they persist - 1/2 of one tiny Valium pill helps a GREAT deal.
Pinky - we all here had those thoughts and still do - what on Earth we did to deserve this in our life Image - NOTHING !!!!!!! It is just written in our stars and we have to make the best out of it and we do !!! Many great man wondered about life - whole libraries are filled with philosophy books and one existential question haunted all civilizations and all of the cultures - WHAT IS A PURPOSE OF SUFFERING ? Siddhartha went to such extent that he almost died seeking the truth and he did find
enlightenment Image and he was one of a few who did in the whole history of human race. He became a Buddha - an object of admiration and veneration and adoration - the very thing he found senseless and with no meaning - he strived to become detached from this world and became imbibed as an image here forever - what a paradox !!!??? It only shows how little we know actually and how hard it is for us to understand the vastness of the universe and principles of it's laws and only a few chosen ones were able to understand it but still could not transfer their knowledge to us. They tried - they did their best - they died trying - still ... what do we know ??? We mumble our prayers automatically or do not pray at all , some dance around the fire, some kneel in the temple, some laugh at it all - still we all suffer - this or that way , physically or emotionally - life is struggle from the first breath we take and we can only pray that we go from this world with as little struggle as we can. If you meet somebody who never ever felt sadness or suffering - that person is either insane or a living dead.
There are people who have the ability to "see the future" - always were there - from Nostradamus to Oracles of Greece. True ones are VERY VERY rare, but they do exist. Maybe your astrologer is one of them - you will never know - BUT don't blame yourself, you did not caused bad luck - that is silly. If something "is written in the stars" it almost never can be changed - IT IS ALREADY written ; ))) !!! As he saw the surgery in Sept. - that was "in the stars" - nothing could change it - your move proved it - you moved since it also was "written in the stars" , you see what I am trying to say Image.
Anyways , dear friend, we all walk the path that is chosen for us and we have to make the best of it and be the best that we can be as human beings and that is all that matters at the end !

pinky, i know exactly how you feel in wondering what you did to deserve this. i've wondered that often myself, why did i get cursed with this problem? what could i have done differently? it's a horrible thing to think about because there is no answer and it won't get us anywhere thinking like that. as hard as it is, we have to accept that this is our plight and do the best we can to live with it and/or try to improve it. it is soooo hard i know. some days i hate life so much it's all i can do to get out of bed, let alone put on a happy face and talk to my loved ones.
what fissy said is right on (as usual!!) - everybody has sadness and suffering in their lives. ours has just come in a different form than we ever would've expected. we can all only become stronger people for having dealt with all of this. hang in there pinky. it has to get better Image

Of course Pinky i have problems every month !
It starts with diarrhea about 5-7 days before i am due , then during my period my train can be slow moving Image these times can be when my setbacks occur as everything is cramping away and tight just like our Fissy says...
I would try a low dose of magnesium this will keep poops soft and plus its benefits for PMS , magnesium relaxes the muscles also !
Please try the evening primrose too Image
Really hope today is a better day for you Pinky Image

im praying its due to periods and everything will be fine in a day or 2.i can bear this pain and im not complaining.my biggest fear now is what if the fissure isnt healing and LIS hasnt worked.how do i travel for 10hrs with this soreness?ill be anxious till we see our crs on dec2
