Hyperbaric Chamber for Wound Healing

Postby bherna1 » 25 Jan 2009, 23:05

I have entered a program in Denton Texas that specializes in healing wounds internally and externally. I was refered to this specialist from my surgeon and GI. Most insurance companies I have found out will fight you hand and foot to cover the procedure and treatments for hyperbaric since it is not approved for fissure healing by the FDA. This wound healing clinic is new in their approach in the industry to include the chamber treatment. Right now my insurance company is making me go through traditional wound healing before i enter the hyperbaric chamber to heal my wounds. The traditional wound healing includes using special potentent hydrocortisone meds and acids to dry up the wounds to get them to shrink and close. After a month of this traditional wound healing treatment the doctors have to write a paper to my insurance company stating that they have tried all avenues possible and for me to enter the chamber for further healing. I have met people from all over the country flying in for chamber treatment for GI healing. I met one guy who came in walking in with a cane and in alot of pain and leave the chamber treatment without the cain and no pain meds. I hope that i can follow the same path. It took him 3 sessions in the chamber until he fully healed up. I will let everyone know my progress and if this chamber treatment will work. Their is alot of clinical trials that prove the chamber treatment works for healing fissures and inflamation in the rectum internally and externally.
Wish me luck.
Thanks
Bernard

Best of luck, Bernard, and please keep us posted on your results as other people might like to try the same treatment protocol.

I wish it weren't such a struggle with the insurance but it doesn't surprise me. When I looked into this I just assumed it would be self pay. But I am glad that yours might come around.
How are you tolerating the other treatments that you have to go through before the hyperbaric treatment. Sometimes the treatment is worse than the illness. I hope you can get glimmers of hope through of all of this and trust that you will be alright.
God bless you, friend.

Hey Seattle,
this post was made a long time ago. I think Bernard went on to get another kind of treatment that healed him, but it wasn't this.

Hopefully someone else will have some info about this though Image
