Juney -
Did you ever try that OTC product you bought online? I was hoping that was going to get rid of your inflamation.
I am not really sure about your question, I don't know what to do either half the time.

Juney,
When I had my fissure, my CRS advised me to keep it very dry.

I bet the other fissure is very superficial and will heal in no time. Do you think getting back on the diltiazem for awhile would help?
I got varying opinions about keeping the area dry vs moist. I think whichever feels more soothing to you.

Thats a good question Juney !
I think ideally its good to keep things as dry as possible but with pain those creams can be very soothing and do help with pain too
I used alot of creams, allsorts of different ones - 24/7 Image
I do wonder if having all that moisture can actually hinder healing Image
Hope things are a little better today Juney...

To me it's best to keep things dry, I have more BM problems if I apply creams, etc. to keep things moist, but people are different... I have tried so many creams and none of them has been OK to apply for long term use...
I am so sorry you have a new one Juney, but as you and others say - it should heal quickly if you take care.

thanks guys. so most of you seem to think i should keep it dry. i've been using vaseline before BM and i wonder if i should stop doing that. i'm just trying to get the BMs as soft as possible. it's like i completely screwed up my GI system with my alcohol binge. last month i was eating things to try and make my BM more formed, despite not taking any softeners, now i'm back to taking softeners and mineral oil and it's still too formed and hurts so bad on the way out. i'm trying to just eat fruits, fiber cereal, oatmeal, etc to make things as soft as possible w/o using MOM or something harsh.
i've never used dialzetam or whatever it's called. i used nitro for about 6 weeks right before my first surgery 2 years ago. but that's it as far as prescrip. ointments go.
i tried the Anurex i bought online. it's a pretty large thing to stick up there, but it actually fits. the cool feels really good. now that i have a new fissure i don't want to use it though. if i can get back to just feeling like it's inflammed i'll try it again.
i'm so freaking miserable right now. will this ever end?! i can't have another surgery so i don't know what my options are if this doesn't heal.

Juney - I have to be short since I have crazy life going on here right now - don't even ask ... I just had to post now that I read this since it might help and you are so miserable : ((( - I am really sorry Juney : ((, just never ever give up - you will find what works but you have to try . It can turn at the end that it will be the craziest thing in the world - like you fall by accident in a mud pool and all of the sudden your butt gets better - you know those things DO happen. So many cures are discovered by accident and many ailments cured by craziest stuff so do not shy of anything - OK ? ; ))) (unless somebody suggests sitting on live jelly-fish or something like that ALTHOUGH - it might help Lecia since they produce neuro-toxins and it might paralyze her crazy nerve !!!!!!). To come back to the point - creams always helped me . Over time I found that compounding my own cream gave me the best results. Take a small container ( empty eye cream jar, or something like that - Lush metal sample container is my favorite : ))- my buddy Val sent me one last year Image and I think she will be delighted to know that it is now used as a miracle butt cream container LOL !!!!)
OK, now that you have a small container mix equal parts of : A+D cream, nefidapine cream (ask for prescription), one vit. A capsule oil, one vit . E capsule oil, Aloe (organic gel with no additives), Mebo cream. Mix it all with a small plastic spoon (the tip of handle), untill you get one uniform nice creamy substance. You will have supply for about 3-4 days . It made major difference for me - I hate that I have to disclose ingredients here before I patent the thing and become rich Image , but all for the butt-buddies , I guess Image !!! ; )
I used it before BM, after BM, during suppository insertions - you name it !!! It actually worked the best if it would go in together with suppository !!!
I also saw today that Eric suggested coconut oil - it is indeed very well documented thing. I sometimes apply it to my body to smell nice and be soft as a silk , - just do not forget to wipe off excess with a towel(if you use it as body cream). I also eat coconut oil with my oatmeal sometimes since it is fantastic lubricant (oh well - now that "the box is open" lol - it is good lubricant for many things wink-wink), and it has anti-inflammatory properties and is very good for the GI.
I am so sorry the your GI is so stubborn now - but you regulate it once before- you will be able to do it again - just be equally stubborn !!!!
Hope to hear great news next time I "check in here "
Image Get well very VERY soon !!!!

nothing much has changed. :( BMs are getting more regulated and softer (with the help of 2 stool softeners, 1/2 tablespoon benefiber, 1 1/2 tablespoons mineral oil and a 500mg magnesium pill) but i'm still having the ripping sensation and pain ALL day after. i don't have spasm pain and never have, it's more that same old pain i've always described that lasts about 8-10 hours after BM. it's so discouraging. i've started using A&D zinc oxide ointment (for diaper rash). and taking 2 baths a day and using ice in the mornings b/c i feel there's some swelling right after BM.
i made an appt to see my surgeon the end of the month. haven't seen him since december and i'm sure he thinks i'm doing great. i want him to do a scope exam and let me know if i've ripped open again or if it's the same old inflammation. it feels like a fissure but i can't see the new one anymore. the ripping pain during BM SUCKS. Image
fissy - haven't tried your special concoction yet, but i'll ask the surgeon about nifedipine. i've never used that before.
