Steve,
Dwight told me he knows several people with the last name of "Pain." (really) Hopefully, you'll begin to turn the corner soon. If I play golf tomorrow, I'll try to send you healing vibs again. We're supposed to have another heat advisory tomorrow, and I just might choose to stay in bed in the morning!!!!!

Could you please send some of that heat to the UK? We've had nothing but rain for the past 3 weeks! I really need to move to the US LOL

We need rain, Steve!! If you send us rain, I'll send you heat across the pond. BTW, my husband is thinking about a trip to Paris. I hope it happens. He would like to see the Louvre, and I'm always ready to go anywhere. Presently, his 90 year old father is suffering with cancer, so we cannot make any definite plans at the moment.

Day 6:
Had a decent nights sleep again, got up and within the first hour had several BM's which hurt, then had porridge for breakfast and a sitz bath, had several more BM's which hurt again but not as bad as a few days ago, cleaning is still tricky but not like in the first few days, have pain to the left side of my anus which is generally there all day but manageable.
Had a look in the mirror today for the first time since surgery, there's a big black bruise to the left side of my anus (was gonna post a picture of it), must of been caused either by the LIS cut or some clamps/speculum, none of the pain appears to be coming from the area that's bruised, it's mainly from the old fissure site or certainly feels like it, keep getting pinchy and stinging pains but nothing like a few days ago, also, at night I get a feeling of being moist and upon checking there's some spotting of very faint blood but not always, I.E. it's just a feeling most of the time, not wore a panty liner since days 2/3 and have had no accidents since then, still feel like I'm not finishing the job after a BM but this could be the swelling, a gentle push during evacuation seems to be helping though, stools are quite soft but I feel like I should be getting them a bit softer, it's most probably due to dietary changes I've recently made, if it continues I'll just up my dose of Movicol.
This whole healing process is very very slow, I notice little, if any change from day to day, and when the pain is sometimes bad it's discouraging and you feel like something is wrong or the surgery didn't work. I guess that's why it's aptly named "The long road to recovery"

We went out for breakfast this morning, which we usually do after we play golf. So, it was a fun morning, nevertheless. You might try meditating and visualizing your wound/butt healing. I even read in some of my literature about holding a hand over the area while in the tub to help with visualizing the specific area.

Steve I am so sorry to hear that you are suffering so much still Image
Please try to get hold of some decent pain meds since it is very important to "brake the cycle" ! If you are in pain, your muscles clench reflexively and cause spasms and that makes healing slower and pain worse Image :( Image How I wish they can give you some Valium - this is really inhumane Image If you feel better during the soak , than you definitely are having strong spasms going on :(
Yes - swelling makes you feel like you have to poop so often, but you will have to somehow go down on number of BMs since that poor anus needs some rest to heal Image Also ,there is nothing wrong with a GENTLE push - do not worry about that. Only heavy straining can cause some major damage.
I can tell you, and many other members mentioned it here, that poop that is on the too pasty side can cause more stress on the anus in some instances just because it is hard for it to evacuate completely , is sticky and messy and also is higher in acidity. Even nowadays my butt is happiest with normally formed poop - not stiff but not "doughy" either ! It is really hard to make a poop "perfect" but over the time we learn what works for each of us individually. I hope that soon you will be able to regulate the number of BMs *sigh, that is just maddening Image
Keep strong, Steve , it must start getting better soon !!!!
PS: I know that some members did get Valium in the UK after CRS procedures , so you might try to insist and be persistent. It might be hard to get it but obviously it is not "unheard of" ; )))

Hi Steve
Sorry to hear that you are still in pain. I think I had similar feelings to you regarding post op healing. I too was really impatient to heal and I thought progress was slow day to day. But reading your post you mentioned that the pain isn't as bad as a couple of days ago so things are improving. Unfortunately time is the only thing that is going to work here and day 6 really isn't that long unfortunately. We had different ops but it was 2 weeks for me to feel like I was getting somewhere and probably 5-6 weeks before I really felt things were progressing absolutely postively.
One thing I would said is that you are correct to make sure everything is clean but make sure you don't over do it. I am still getting sore skin because I can't help but cleaning to the nth degree.
