Fed up and questions!

Postby mumof2 » 20 Dec 2010, 10:21

Hi,
This is so hard going but at least I know I am not alone.
Wondering how you guys cope. Its not just the pain that gets me down its the frustration and it is always playing on my mind.
Also wondering about treatments. Has anyone ever tried oral medication like Diltiazem? I have had the awful itching and burning from the cream and wondered if taken an oral version would help. Not sure if the side effects would outweigh benefits.
Plus wondered if anyone had gone as far to consider a colostomy to heal fissure. I know it sounds extreme but I am so scared of possibility of incontinence from LIS.
I am having botox again in January so hoping and praying that will help.

Hey there, I've only used the ointment, nothing oral.
I don't think any doctor in their right mind would do a colostomy to heal a fissure. Incontinence is really unheard of.
Good luck with the botox:)

The oral form of Diltiazem is only used for heart complaints.
I once said I'd rather have a bag fitted while my fissure heals, make sense really!

I felt the same way at one time too, Steve. It's so painful and that seems like a great option when you're going through it. It's pretty sad how desperate a fissure will make you though.

Yep, bin there too. I actually asked if that was something that was ever done.....got a firm no it isn't! As for desperate I asked before one of my surgery procedures if they could keep me under for a few days....ooops got a no to that one too.
