hi fairy, i almost wanted to when i first got my fissure, but i ended up eating just painkillers and stucked at home can't work for a week.
I ever read someone went to a&e and has morphine drip, but was later discharged after a day with softeners and GTN cream.

I would never go because they always send you home with Anusol, totally pointless, you don't get to see a CRS in A&E it's just nurses with little or no knowledge of fissure pain..

Hi Fairy,
Yes I did, often! When it was at it worse I went several times. they couldn't do lots but they were able to see what was going on and tell me. That was a help for me as I could get a better understanding of what to do for myself and why it hurt. I felt I could also decide better as to what I could or couldn't do. Additionally one time the doctor I saw wrote a letter to the CRS. Provided you are already seeing a CRS he can do this, if not it has to be your GP, assuming your'e in the UK. This did result in me getting an appointment. Trouble is all CRSs are busy people but if you persist and kick up enough fuss then you will get to see a CRS, they will squeeze you in I'm sure. Hope you win this battle.

I understand the pain is so great, we wish goin to a&e can save us! Anyway, if u r in Singapore, going to a&e is one nasty experience. U can wait and wait and wait for hours, cos there are simply too many ppl at a&e. I went once cos of suspected abscess, my gp wants me to go immediately and the wait there is sooooo frustrating

When I didn't know better, I did go to A&E hoping that they could give me some painkiller or a shot to get rid of the pain ASAP. Been there twice and tried all the painkillers they could give me, namely Tramadol (both oral tablet and injection) and Diclofenac Sodium, which are totally useless. I then realized that those GP can't help anything at all. To a certain degree, Sitz bath has better soothing effect (not that it can get the excruciating pain to stop, only a bit better) than those painkillers I got from the hospital.
dwafts8, a trick I learned from a nurse friend long time ago, if you don't wanna wait for a long time at the A&E, make sure you are transported to the hospital by ambulance and let the paramedics put you on a bed (don't get up and walk in there by yourself) and push you to A&E. While you are on a bed, make sure you shout and scream from the bottom of your heart and let the whole world knows how much pain you're in, kick around if you have to.
If you try to be tough and put up with the pain, they'll classify your case as semi-urgent or even not urgent and you'll be sitting there waiting and watching people whose case doesn't look serious but classified urgent got attended before you do and you'll be there suffering your agony in silence.
