which is why i'm still drinking prune juice and magnesium oxide 400mg everyday. There's once i have forgotten to take my prune juice and has more iron in my system due to the cereal breakfast i have taken, my stools became harder the next day and i'm so worried that it will retear anything down there. BUT thank God it didn't, only some pressure which is all good the next day.
I don't think i'll ever stop prune juice, especially if i'm gonna be preggy next... or even magnesium. I just bought a bottle of cal/mag, which is cal 500mg and mag 250mg, i'm not sure if it works as good as my mag oxide 400mg, BUT if i don't try, i'll never know... gonna find a night to try it soon... i pray it will be fine..

3 days? no wonder it's hard. I normally have 2 bms per day, morn and night. Sometimes, i have another one in the afternoon and i don't have it at night, but that's still fine the next day. BUT 3 days? GOSH. Is it due to the pain med u have taken?

Aw thank you Andy, something to try if I need to. It's a bit of a relief to hear that the person doing your botox has said it will be painful for a week after. Just a shame the hospital I'm at didn't warn me of the level of pain, but like I said I think I should have taken an extra day off work. I am just a week after botox now, and still really painful to sit. But you're right it is early days, and the bleeding has stopped for 2 days now which I think is a good sign. I suppose I didn't eat for almost 24 hours dwarf, so that may be my reason for not having a bm and when it did happen it was hard. Oh well, I live in hope as the GP has checked it and its not infected or anything - maybe I am just super sensitive and its taking longer to sort out!! :)

Sorry to hear your having a lot of pain still! I think It was NG who said Botox can take 1 week- 1.5 before kicking in. Hopefully you are getting closer to that point and will get some relief soon

Aw thank you Dawn. I'm still in alot of pain, but this is fissure pain hell! I have retorn again in a pretty major way and have no idea how this is going to heal. I am re-starting the cream again and am awaiting a date for my follow-up appointment to this. I really don't want the botox again to be honest and am going to push for surgery, even though I don't think they'll do it. I have spoken to the other lady in my work who has had 2 lots of botox, LIS and more botox and is still in agony. She has had this for 2 and a half years, and goes back in January for her appointment. Poor lady! I would have gone mad! It's a bit disheartening to be honest to hear that, but I'm hoping that if I had LIS it would sort it. I know I'll probably have to go through one more lot of botox before they'd consider it. Anyone else in the UK had experience of this? Anyone had to go private to get surgery/help? I will ask on the surgery section of this site, just wondered what others experiences are. I'm going mad myself here

I have been following your experience of botox as I am from Northern Ireland and have had an anal fissure for almost 2 1/2 years. Unlike the US people on this forum I have a specialist who is reluctant to do the LIS surgery on me even after all this time. I have persevered with Botox twice before. My first experience was OK and I almost healed but I went for a second Botox and tore worse than before. This was during the procedure in March 2011. I was in considerable pain from March 2011 until October 2011 when things became unbearable. I was in spasm for around 4 hours a day and couldn't work and became very anxious about the fissure and very down. In late October the situation came to a height and I went to A&E only to be told that there was 4 hour waiting list. I couldnt wait.
I read all the advice on this forum. I found this forum in October and I think the best advice I found from this forum was Movicol. It suited me more than the other alternatives. Dwarf8s story was very good reading. The next day I started to take baths after every bowel movement and took a sachet of movicol each night and ate weetabix, an apple and fruit chopping up with it every morning. I used Aloe Vera wipes from Tesco and tried to drink more water. The key thing is to look after yourself. I got this fissure as I feel that stress created this weakness in my body. I havent spasmed from that day and have no pain on BM. However I do not look healed the fissure is still obviously there and I still am very anxious about the pain returning. I may never heal.
I had a Botox scheduled for this Wednesday but cancelled it partly out of fear of tearing but the Botox is mainly to stop spasming so there is no real point. I still am only considering LIS as I worry about it going wrong and also about the sphinter weakening more as I get older. The UK doctors dont seem to promote LIS and I do not know why they are so reluctant but I have read the LIS stories and I couldnt say I am ready for it - I live in hope of healing.

Hi Two years gone, thanks for your reply. Things have started to settle a bit, but still having quite alot of pain when going for a bm. I then remain sore for quite a few hours, painkillers are my friend at the moment. I have been trying a good regime, I am somewhat limited with my eating due to IBS. I kinda wish I'd not had the botox as things were much better than this before it. Plus now for a week I have had really annoying itching on the area and it is pink. I rang the hospital and they said to put E45 cream on which I have done but its not going and its spreading. The only relief I get is from Piriton tablets!! I think I am going to have to go to the docs. I wonder if its an allergic reaction to the botox?! It's definitely not thrush as I have had this before! I agree, I really don't want to go for the operation. I just feel that I'm 28, and I feel like I'm 68!! I should be enjoying life, instead I am 'getting through' a day in work, coming home and lying on the sofa as if I try to do much then I'm in pain again. I do try and go for a walk every day down my road.
So that's my update really, pain is marginally better but I now have this infernal itching along with my skin complaint in the other embarrassing area. Will this ever end?! I'm beginning to think that this is going to be my life from now on

I am in the U.K. too and part of the botox gang.
I have actually posted up my full story on the Introduction Forum, but in summary I had the botox injections ten days ago and am in a similar situation to you.
The pain has been immense, particularly during and after BM. I have been taking salt baths after each BM, which is a slight relief but only for the time spent bathing.
My pain medication has been paracetamol and ibuprofen, although being asthmatic, I have had to cut out the ibuprofen. I have also been taking laxatives each night to help with BM.
Like you, my fissure has opened up since surgery and is constantly weeping out a white discharge. Day five saw me go to the A&E convinced I had an infection, however they just referred me back to my GP as well as to book an appointment with my surgeon. My GP has put me on a course of antibiotics, and my appointment for the surgeon is not until next year!!!!
Today has seen the discharge change colour from white to brown, and new shooting pains in my bladder as well as my penis. I do not know whether this is to do with the antibiotics, or whether this is something else.
Who knows. All I know is that I am thoroughly depressed, tired and angry. I was told it would be three days recovery, but this is now day 10. My work have been understanding, but I do not feel at all ready to go back. Like you, I am 28 and feel like the last couple of years of my life have been taken from me because of my anal fissure. Perhaps I was being too hopeful that this was the answer to all my problems.
Part of me thinks I should not have bothered with the botox and insisted on the LIS. However, it did seem like they were reluctant to go to that straight away.
Anyhow, sorry for venting. You posts inspired me to put up a reply. :)

Hi Lee, I am sorry to hear of your suffering like this. Maybe the antibiotics need some time to work?! I really don't know as I've not had anything like the discharge, but it certainly doesn't sound right to me. Poor you! I am also taking paracetamol and ibuprofen, I couldn't take the co-codamol or anything else. I have to be careful though as the ibuprofen upsets my stomach with the IBS! It seems to be keeping the pain away a bit more. I find 2 paracetamol in the morning and at night, and 2 ibuprofen midday helps. I don't know if I dare say this, but I haven't bled for 5 days now. Pain was less during a bm this morning so I remain hopeful. I am now 3 and a half weeks post botox and it seems to have started making a difference. Maybe give it a bit longer, I was still really bad at 10 days. The rash and itching I had is subsiding, the doc checked for me tonight and has said the area ia looking better externally anyway which is something. Have you gone back to work? I have found it very tough but its getting easier. Going for very short walks may help you, its helped me walking for short distances. I think it's just a waiting game now to see what happens, can't say I'm totally pain free but have a follow-up appointment on the 21st Feb (yes I too have to wait until next year!!) so will see what they say then.
I have every sympathy, don't worry about venting either. I will always listen! Sounds like we are at a similar stage, age, and have the similar frustrations! Nice to have someone at the same point on here. Glad my posts inspired you! Keep me updated with how you're getting on and I will do the same. Hoping you feel better soon :)
