It seems as though, If I am remembering correctly, people that have IBS, tend to have more problems not only are you dealing with the IBS, but fissure as well. Have you recently started upping your fiber intake?? Too much fiber to fast can really give you alot of gas!! If you read the threads here you will see, everyone ups their fiber. I don't take supplements they constipate me, everyone is different. I eat 20-25 grams of fiber everyday, drink at least 8 8oz glasses of water and take nice warm baths, and take 17g of Miralax a day. It is really important to have soft BM's and not strain or push. The Miralax, fiber and water all help that happen. When your fissure is active,if you are having spasms, the spasms keep the fissure open and prevent it from healing. The tub baths help relax the sphincter by increasing the blood flow to the area. Also, Ibuprofen really helps take the edge off, as does a nice walk. I hope this helps you. Feel better soon.
