LIS early tomorrow morning

Postby sososore » 17 May 2012, 20:47

I will be having the LIS at 8:15 tomorrow morning. I am a little anxious about the whole thing, but I am a positive person so I keep telling myself that this will be great and that I am lucky to have the opportunity to get this done. 4 months of suffering will hopefully be coming to an end tomorrow. Yahooooo!
THanks for all of the support from the folks on this board. Image
I'll keep my experience posted.

Gosh, I wrote a response but I do not see it on here, so I will try again!
So, my LIS surgery was yesterday (Friday) morning. I told the anesthesiologist that I have had nausea after anesthesia and they gave me a patch for behind my ear and added something to my IV but I was still very, very nauseated for the rest of the day.
The great news is that I am feeling SO much better than I ever expected. I even shopped for a few hours with the hubby this morning. I think I over did it by the end because I slept in the car while he finished our errands. I am still battling nausea and headaches on and off today, but I am certain it is just the anesthesia working its way out of my system.
I also just had my first BM post surgery and while I feared it, it was not bad at all! Image I jumped into the bathtub after, sat in there for about 10 minutes and now I am writing this message, so you know that it wasn't too bad. I feel a little tender down below, but the BM was not bad at all!!! I was definitely happy to be home when it happened because I don't know that I would have been able to hold it for very long.
I know that this is just my experience, but now that I have lived through it all, I wish that I would have had this surgery months ago! I am already looking forward to getting my old life back! Yahoo!!!!
Thank you all for your support and if there are any questions I may be able to answer, I will be happy to do so.

Mary,
This is awesome, wonderful, wonderful news. I'm sorry about your anesthesia experience. I'm the same way with anesthesia. If you ever have to have surgery again, ask them to give you Zofran. It works really well. Those patch thingies never do anything for me.
I am so so happy for you that it sounds like you are on the short path to healing! I hope it all continues to go this well throughout your recovery. just be careful not to over do it!
