Hi folks,
I hope everyone's bums are on the mend. It's probably been the longest since I last wrote. Was doing better last week, but experiencing a minor hiccup again this week. Started Sunday during dance class with a sharp-stinging yowee during class. I think possible due to extra moisture/sweating from bicycling and wearing the wrong underwear? The humidity has been bad in NYC - finally broke yesterday. Anyway, noticed a little paper cut sliver that night and it's been spotting again. Can't tell if the extra tissue down there is due to swelling or extra scar tissue/tag formation. Anyway, emailed my doc wondering if I should wait out the 3 months to see if it'll continue to heal and totally resolve or if I should schedule to see him before then. I'm 6 weeks out at this point and overall am feeling much better aside from these small sidesteps - further testament to stick to my diet, management observances. Taking my first bath in a week now for healing ... Patience and compassion. Also, I am making some changes in my job to decrease stress and going to take a yoga teacher training course this fall which I am looking forward to.

Sailorgal,
I'm so sorry to hear of a bit of a setback, but so encouraged to hear you are making some changes with work to decrease stress and are planning a yoga training course! That is awesome news. I would love to try some yoga but have no idea what on earth to start with given all my physical problems and limitations.
I hope this turns out to be a minor blip on the screen that heals right up again. I know for me, perspiration can be a real problem for my fissure issues. I can't even imagine ever being on a bicycle again, but it makes sense that this could also play a role, combined with chafing and perspiration, which could irritate the area.
Hoping for the very best for you, as always.

Hey Sailorgal,
I still have the same hope for you that when these minor issues arise, they are simply a baby step back and that you'll be able to nip it quickly and continue with your healing this time around. I'm truly praying that this go of it is your last and ends up being your true path to closing this long chapter for you.
I was in your neck of the woods yesterday. Went to see a specialist at Mount Sinai..my third opinion...and got on a new treatment plan, as well as a new diagnosis to consider here. It seems as if the hits just keep on coming. I was extremely impressed with this crs as she was able to express her concern that there may just be other underlying issues here, those being the pelvic floor dysfunction and the possibility of prolapse. That came from the discussion of some symptoms I've been experiencing that I discussed with her and the physical examination. No matter what, after this new 3 week course of treatment, if there are no improvements, she advised I go straight to an MRI to get a better indication if, in fact, there is something else going on before any further intervention is taken to resolve what I thought was solely fissure related. This doc also said her route of choice for me, if I was dealing with just the fissure, would be botox 1st...not dilation/lis...since I did have lis already. She is a surgeon that performs balloon and controlled SAD, and actually studied under Doctor Sohn, so I really feel as though she's on her game with her knowledge and expertise...and although I was really comfortable and confident with my original crs, I got a totally different feeling from this one. She just seemed to be on a different level somehow, and so I'm gonna sign on and follow her advice for now, and hopefully land on my final path towards closing this chapter for me as well.
Best Wishes Always,
Angel

Angel,
This sounds like a wonderful, much more rounded approach for you, looking to underlying causes. I so hope that this is the first step on a new road of complete and permanent healing for you. You've been through so much already, and this sounds like a really hopeful course to be starting on with a physician who has more tools in her toolbox to offer you.
I can't wait to hear your updates!

angel, that is great news! well done on continuing to shop around for the right CRS - i know that can be time consuming and frusterating. but this new crs definitely sounds more holistic.
and thanks for your words, guys. yesterday, learned that it is possible to use too much powder - that was pretty uncomfortable all day - so still tweeking my regime to get the right "environment" down there so that things are happy. gotta run off to get ready for work. i wish everyone a pleasant and comfortable weekend.

Hi all,
Just sending in a quick update. I am more than 3 months post my 2nd procedure. I haven't bled in more than 2 weeks, which is great news. But, I am having some increased discomfort (burning itching) this week. My routine seems to have gotten thrown off by my cycle last weekend and hasn't returned bak to normal. So, I don't know what that is about. I don't see the fissure anymore when I have checked. The discomfort seems to be more of a hygiene thing since haveing difficulty staying clean down there and stool has been looser this past week(?) I imagine this will resolve, just stayin the course. On the up side, I returned to performing this summer and have enjoyed resuming fun summer activities, aside from this little blip this week which ever reminds me to not get myself too busy... I hope all is well and continue to send golden-bum-healing vibes to all of you out there!

Hi Sailorgal,
It's so great to hear from you. I was thinking about you the other day and hoping things were going well for you. I'm really glad to hear things are still good, but sorry to hear you've had a bit of a rougher time this last week. Hopefully it will just be minor and temporary and will pass quickly.
I saw a third doctor recently who concurred with the first two that surgery isn't a good plan for me. He didn't even want to recommend Botox given my medical history, so I'm left just learning how to live with chronic fissures.
Thanks for popping in to say hello and give us an update. Again, I'm really hoping for calmer seas soon for you.
