Ugggg re-tear

Postby De819 » 03 Aug 2012, 18:52

I don't think I can even explain my frustrations anymore. I was doing great 2 months with very little pain. Then I got one magical month where I just went to the bathroom when I had to go. At work no problem twice a day why not. Soft great hard no problem. I was overjoyed I smiled went out with friends. Rode my motorcycle. Dreamed of getting back to running marathons again. And then the last 2 weeks incredible stress took over. I'm literally at the hardest choice in my life. I haven't been sleeping or eating. It took over and then bam re-tear today blood and pain. Looks like another 7 months in bed. I just don't know if I'll survive it this time

Have you considered having LIS and getting your life back? I had LIS 11 days ago and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. My only regret is that I waited so long.

A little. sadly I don't have insurance I'm not sure of the out of pocket expense. And I worry about the healing time I own a buisness so not going to work is not really an option. At this point if I knew it would fix it. And it was under 20k I wouldn't blink

I own my own business, so I know what it is like to not be able to call in sick. I'm also a runner, so I know how frustrating a fissure can be.
I had my surgery in South Carolina, in my doctor's office under general anesthesia, for $3,100 (which included LIS, fistula repair and anesthesia). If I had opted for having the operation at a local hospital, the cost would have been around $10,000. Most CRS's offer a discount if you don't have insurance, so be sure to ask.
My post-op experience is detailed here, if you are interested:

Good luck!

Since having fissure issues mine historically occurred after doing running. Not sure if this running was the start or if it just made a minor problem a lot worse - I had a strange kind of tight feeling/tingling sometimes way before my first fissure (at least a year maybe two). However this year with stress both times I have had a re-tear twice, without any running just before the tear, and just weeks apart and definately think stress can be a trigger. In my case I also seem to have IBS which of course is worse when stressed and can be a trigger of an anal fissure. I too was not sleeping.
Right now I'm going through some stress at the moment resulting I think in me struggling to sleep(some nights stay awake all night). I say 'I think' because some days I don't feel stressed but still intermittantly just cannot sleep on some nights. My stress comes from a number of sources at the moment unfortunately and not easily managed including family illness, doing business where I'm not enjoying it too much and tying myself in for 6 months with the company and also moving into a rented property hoping this eventually lowers my stress a bit. I was staying with parents before for 6 months and need my space at aged nearly 40 espscially as I'm so fussy with food now - my butt another source of stress!. With dad ill it's great I am close by to help though. ANyway, this past week I've been a bit more stressed than most of the last 5 months and although my butt is okay it has been feeling a bit odd (close to re-tear maybe).
Good luck. Hopefully it won't be with you for the 7 months!
My last fissure was back in Feb and been fine since although i can still feel it there and being very careful with food. I'm also going to look into meditation to hopefully lower or at least manage stress better. I cannot remember 100% but think my first fissure appeared around a very stressful time which has had an impact on my life since.
