Hi there Cubby, and glad that you found us! Image
Sorry that you have had so many problems with going to the loo since your hemorrhoid surgery. Stricture or stenosis a fairly rare complication of hemorrhoid surgery. An anal fissure is a small cut - like a paper cut - on the inside of your anus.
I have also had hemmy surgery and suffer from moderate stenosis, though I had my surgery years ago and only had problems after getting a fissure. What probably has happened with you is that scar tissue has formed following the surgery, which constricts the anus, making it more tight and more difficult to have a BM.
You have not said what your diet is. You need to be on a diet that moves things more smoothly through you. You need to stop straining as that only will make the stenosis worse. There is a lot of information on here about diet, the laxative Miralax, anal dilation to widen the anus (sounds awful, but can be done!), Sitz Baths to help with the pain, and many more hints. Take the time to read and search for information as it is invaluable what is on here. And ask questions of us. Image We are here to help!
You asked why the doctors did not tell you you had a stricture. All I can suggest with that is to get your medical records from your doctors and find out exactly what they did do and when they noticed you have problems. Then you can have a better idea than the information given in a short 'interview' with your doctor.
I am sure that other members will also provide info for you. Thinking of you!
