Happy to say I have had a completely pain free week. AHHH bliss. 10 weeks since Botox.I have reduced my movicol down to every other day. I am staying away from processed foods and red meat with great rewards. I had three full days of horse riding this week with no problems. I even went three days without a BM but when it finally arrived it was still soft and pain free. I was travelling and that always seems to be the response to change. I added more water, prunes and movicol over the three days. Interstingly I think the three days gave things more time to heal. I am fairly confident that I can avoid constipation and hard BM which would be a fissure tear for sure. Sometimes I feel a hint of spasm which I treat with a hot bath and rectogesic. I have an appointment with my CRS this week but I think I will postpone it until I am a little further down my healing path. No sense forking out $170 bucks for him to tell me what I know. If the spasms don't subside I will go for another round of Botox to further promote healing.

Hi fissure friends,
I am now about 12 weeks post Botox.
I have had relief for spasm from first few days of treatment.
I have had a few rough days when aggravated by diarrhoea but mostly pain free.
I am not healed completely as I can still feel tenderness around the fissure site. I have no pain or bleeding with BMs but the Botox has worn off now and the sphincter continues to go into spasm during the day. I am going to get another course of Botox to hopefully extend the spasm free time to aid healing.
On a positive note I am not being restricted in any way. My life is back to what it was pre fissure. I am maintaining soft BMs with diet and have cut out Movicol. I have had to reintroduce Rectogesic twice a day to reduce the spasms as well as warm baths and coconut oil. Image

Hi all,
I am progressing  along fairly well. My life is almost back to before this recent fissure. The Botox has no more effect I don't think. I am managing without the Movicol but I use the rectogesic sparingly if I get any sign of spasm...a couple of times a week at most. I continue to keep the coconut oil treatment which is immediately soothing. BMs are daily and I haven't been too concerned if they are a bit bigger. My theory is that I need to train my body to cope with being stretched because if I don't and end up with an unforeseen constipation I will almost certainly tear everything again. I know my body so much better now and the main cause of my fissure is spasm. If I can manage the spasm I may one day heal completely. Fingers crossed. Xx Pia

Hi Pia,
I've just now read your fissure journey and I'm glad to see that you are living a life free of pain! It sucks to be tied down and held back from everything in life just because of a lousy cut on your bum after all. Congratulations on your success so far and I am hoping that you continue to heal!

OMG over a month since my last post. Happy to report I feel "almost"healed. I have pain free BMs and use nitro for back up if I feel a rough BM might bring on a spasm. Still not ready to post in the success stories but hopefully soon. 7 months since my latest fissure. One dose of botox, time and a lifestyle and diet change have been the main ingredients for me. Love to all xx PIA
