I wouldn't understand the rationale behind rice (a soft food) causing a hard BM.
It doesn't make any sense....

Kim, is that Lecia's waiting room? If so, I'm imagining myself waiting there with you. If not, I'm still imagining....

i avoid white rice because i've heard it has no nutritional value, aside from possible causing constipation. i prefer brown.

I never get constipated , but I know whenever I had diarrhea in my life I would eat white rice and my d. would soon stop. Also, when my babies would get d. due to antibiotic or anything else, I would cook white rice and mix formula with rice water and their d. would stop - so - I suppose it has some constipating properties, but maybe it is just me and may family ; ).
All the best

Mom,
I eat All bran cereals (All Bran Buds) oatmeal, wheat toast, brown rice. muffins, wheat thins, triscuts believe it or not. I also have a lot of cooked veggies, fruits, soy milk, yogurt, beans and chicken, turkey and fish. I have coffee but it is decaf. It does not bother me.
I don't eat cheese, pizza, potatoe chips, hard candy or any red meat at all. No nuts either of any kind. Everything I eat in moderation. I drink alot of water. I went from from 182 to 135. Now I have leveled off at 140. Slowly reintroduce foods once you fissure seems to be healing. or healed, but in small quantities and chew chew chew.
Hey Kim I am waiting right next to you and Chris for Lecia OK? Please I hope her and Val are ok.
Take care,
Patty

Rice, even white rice, is one of the most nutritional foods out there. Much of the world subsists primarily on rice.
It is true that much of it's nutritional value is lost during milling and processing, but it does retain far more nutritional value than many foods.
I'm a rice fanatic!

Hey Fiss that's good to know- I get too many (loose) BMs during that time of the month (can't believe I just said tht in public?) and I'm always trying to constipate myself during that time. Today I drank 4 glasses of milk to constipate myself andI still had appx 3-4 loose BMs!
When I'm not on my period, I avoid milk 100%. It's the only thingthat really blocks me up. Apart from that, food that is TOO spicy. But I stll have it sometimes.Cuz I'm crazy:) :$($$!:

ps. rice is soft food, yes, but so is milk and dairy, but its still constipatingright.. it must be something in the actual rice causing it
