A pressure test is 'anal manometry' and this is where they insert a deflated balloon and then inflate it to various levels of pressure. It measures your sensations as well as the tone of your internal anal sphincter (resting pressure). This is a good test if a Doctor has any uncertainty about whether LIS may make you incontinent or not. Does your CRS have any reason to believe you may (ie., have you had children? Do you not have spasms? Is your fissure not at 6'oclock?). This is definitely normal practice before a second LIS.
