It was a little scary before I had the first one Rich.. Not knwing wht it would be like..
=\
To be honest, it takes a little gettng used to.. It's not like the ordinary.. You need to be extra careful.. Dab, don't wipe.. Get most of the heavy stuff out.. Jump in the shower or sitz and allow warm water to ease the tension.. Feels great as well as cleaning the area.. So if your BM's took 5 minutes pre op it may take 15-20 minutes after..
You may also see a little blood on the tissue and a little discharge..
Don't worry, tht's normal..
=)
If you need anythng, anythng at all.. Feel free to ask.. I'm 29 days post Fistulotomy..

How comes you have a Seton .are they going to see if it heals then take take it out to heal.or have you got another op to lay it open .I've got my Seton because of an abscess burst leading to a tract where the drainage Seton is

Hey Rich, a 'bit of mess' is normal because of where it is but you can't leave it there.. The area must be kept clean at all times.. I'm not sure of the instructions tht your CRS gave you but I was told daily dressing and packing.. I have a nurse coming in to do it daily and wht I tried to do was eat really soft so as to have one BM per day..
Tht would usually be in the morning before the Nurse came to dress it..
So I would have my BM, dab with baby wipes, sitz bath and dry with a sterile Gauze and set one in and wait until she arrived.. Tht was never more thn 30 minutes frm my BM..
She would clear whtever there was and dress it for me for the day..
How often does your nurse come in?!
Ask a lot of questions.. It is your right..
