Hello
I am a 45 yo male and in March 2015 I had a seton stitch inserted. I just wanted to let everyone know that prior to my surgery I read many threads on this site and it helped me immensely to understand #1) I was certainly not alone in this "not discussed in polite company" medical issue and #2) I learned so much from other's experiences.
I am grateful that people are sharing their experiences as it really has helped me pre op and with some healing issues and best practices post op. So thank you all!
I am frequently in pain and my surgeon has referred me to a colorectal specialist surgeon for an advancement flat surgery to happen once my abscess finishes draining. My surgeon told me it takes about 6 months for the abscess to heal enough for AFS. Well, I am still on a wait list and it will be at least another 3 + months before a colorectal surgeon in Vancouver can see me for just the initial consultation meeting! It might be up to a year+ before I get AFS.
Oh Canada, free medical but really...what is the point when one is on a waiting list for up to two years?!
I am still draining, so I guess AFS is still way off in the distance anyways. I was expecting this to heal faster.
Thanks again, VanIsl Guy
