Aw I'm really pleased for you Layla. You've had such a horrible experience! It's good news he was so helpful to you, the difference it makes seeing someone who knows what they are talking about eh. I replied on my other thread, went for my NHS follow-up appointment yesterday. Not with the consultant but the registrar who I saw last time, pleased I saw him as the consultants had actually missed the fissure and he had found it! He didn't want to examine me then as he said it would make me uncomfy. Has made a request for me to be examined under anaesthetic, and if there's nothing else found he has talked to me about botox and said that would be the next step. I am happy with that, as he's marked my case as urgent so I get the next available slot. Feel like I am finally moving in the right direction. The registrar also said to me they try and avoid surgery which is why he said about botox but told me to research it and its my choice. Also said that I'd given the cream a good try so it was time to think about something else. Took my Mum in with me this time, just to listen so if I missed/didn't hear anything she would and she thought he was very good. Personally I don't really want the surgery but if it comes to it I will say I'll have it as I don't want kids. Just want my life back!! Why didn't the CRS want to do botox? Both the private and NHS CRS I have seen have suggested it to me, plus my GP (not my normal GP, another one in the practice). Just curious! Really pleased for you again, restores your faith in the medical professionals a bit doesn't it?! Good luck with the cream. You going back in 6 weeks on the NHS then? I am waiting to hear about this examination now! :)

Hey Sue, that's brilliant news, I'm so pleased for you! Really good that your mum's being so supportive too, I think it's a great idea that she came along with you to your appointment. I'm so glad you've been marked as urgent, you deserve it after so long.
I'm not entirely sure why the doc doesn't do botox...I just asked if it would be that he would give me if anoheal doesn't work and he said no, LIS. In some ways, I'd like LIS because it seems to be more effective for some people, but then again botox is also effective and much less risky. What are your thoughts on the two? I really hope the anoheal works! I have to admit I feel a bit pessimistic about it, just because its been there so long and nothing else has worked...Need to be more positive about it I think.
The CRS is writing to my GP to ask them to write me a prescription of it and sending me a copy of the letter. From there, I think I will be referred back to him on the NHS, if the cream hasn't worked in six weeks. It all feels a bit of a long winded process, so I hope the letter doesn't get lost/he doesn't forget about me!
Good luck with your examination!

I'm sure he won't forget about you. Good that you can get a referral back to the NHS with him - it's a long wait on the NHS so would probably only get an appointment in a couple of months. Thats probably why he's trying the anoheal, you never know it just might work! At least it can't make things any worse. I've had 2 or 3 really good days so fingers crossed - typical after the doc has ordered an examination marked as urgent!! Mind you this has happened before, then its gone again. I prefer the idea of botox purely because it's not permanent like a cut, and as I know my fissure is superficial I think the botox would help with that last bit of healing. It just seems to keep opening every few weeks, but as it's not deep I'm hoping botox would help. Just really pleased to be back at work and do a week of mornings, once that is done I can start building up again.
Anyway, I hope the cream works for you - good luck with it! :)
