Just had surgery after about 1 of pain!

Postby hotpinkblack » 25 Feb 2012, 22:33

Well I finally found a CRS doctor that knew what he was doing, and he didn't make me suffer like all the others. I just had surgery yesterday and I got to come home last night, even though my husband wanted me to stay until today. I have not taken any narcotics since I was in the hospital. I have been taking advil and it seems to help. My butt is burning a little but the pain is not too bad. I am a little freaked out to poop, but I am just going to let it come and not force it. Laying down seems to help relieve pain and taking baths helps a little. The dr told me to use the blow dryer on my butt to dry it off. My dog is staying by my side and being my little nursey. Image

Congratulations and best wishes on your road to recovery! I'm a little over 2 weeks post-op and your definitely on point with not straining to go...just let it happen and know that the discomfort through those first few bm's is perfectly normal and it will surely get better as the days go by!

Glad to hear you are feeling somewhat better already. My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning. I hope to finally have this monkey off my back. I'm REALLY glad to hear that OTC meds seem to be taking care of your pain.
Wishing you continued recovery without any setbacks.

That's great to hear!
I have a crs who just kinda brushes off my fissure as something I can learn to live with. sheesh.
Waiting on a second opinion now.
Glad to hear you found a way forward!
Wishing you good healing!

And Tanya, my wish for you is to find a CRS who truly understands the pain and effect this ailment can have on one's life. May this doctor also be as skilled with a scalpel as Da Vinci was with a paint brush!

Of all the fun things, I'm currently waiting for the spasms to die down. Had a BM during the Oscars. Although this one was not bloody, it was more painful than other recent ones, and of course, the after burn. Guess my fissure had to say goodbye in the only way it knows how!
Thanks again Tanya!!!

Well, today was a pretty painful day. I have had 1st and 2nd poop and they hurt, but were not as bad as when the fissure was there. I feel sore and burning down there, and some shooting pains. Took a bath, but it didn't seem to do much. Had to break down and take Vicodin today. I have just been taking it easy and napping off and on all day. I hope tomorrow is a better day!

Tanya, I hope you do find a dr that is not a quack! The 1st surgeon I went to told me these are just "an annoyance" and I was not ready for surgery. I finally went to a board approved colon/rectum dr and he really emphasized with the problem and did not hesitate to treat me.
