Believe me, there are plenty of worthless doctors of all races - red, yellow, black and white.

The first CRS I saw was awful. He prescribed an ointment to which I was allergic. I told him I was... he said it would be fine... wrong! That ointment was just for pain... he didn't prescribe any of the healing ones.
After that I checked many reviews online... I wish I had done so sooner, I'd have known not to go to the first one.
Like several others have said - check the reviews!
I'll be driving an hour to see the new CRS... I hope it's worthwhile.

Agreed that there are plenty of worthless doctors of all races. I've had plenty of doctors that were terrible that were white, so race doesn't matter.
That said, though, I will almost always choose a doctor or specialist that I can understand verbally. I've had a lot of trouble understanding some doctors that have very thick accents and have been left confused about what's said and treatment options. Same can be said for the nurses. I recently called my CRS's office and spoke to a woman who was very nice, but had a VERY thick accent and I had no clue what she was saying no matter how many times she repeated herself. I had to call back at another time to get someone I could understand. It can be very frustrating when you're paying a lot of money to see someone and don't get much time talking to them at your appointment, yet you can barely understand them. Just a personal pet peeve.
Even with a heavy accent, though, I'd MUCH rather go to someone understanding and gentle than a doctor that is cold and doesn't care about the patient's comfort or mental state. I'm a horribly anxious person that suffers from depression and anxiety (mainly panic attacks) and I just couldn't take seeing someone like that. I'd see someone else pronto. Just my personal preference and opinion. I've had far too many bad experiences with doctors in the past.
And yes, always check the reviews, if there are any. They can be very helpful in deciding on a new doctor.
January 2013 - Diagnosed with fissure. Eventually turned chronic.
History of IBS and anxiety disorder, along with fear of using bathrooms other than my own caused it.
Tried Diltiazem, but eventually developed a rash.
LIS surgery scheduled August 26th.

Let me start off by saying, my intentions of these comments where never meant to insult any culture or demean any race. I was devastated because my doctor had a communication issues with me. He was from India and I have a right as a patient paying good money to be able to have a meaningful dialog without communication issues with my physician. I couldn't understand the guy and having to repeat my questions over and over, made me feel embarrassed and stupid because I felt the shame of not being able to understand this guy. It was frustrating and it rendered my 300. plus dollar visit useless to me. I have since moved on, found myself a good doctor. If I offended anyone, from the bottom of my heart, I'm sorry.

Personally, I don't think you have anything to apologize for. I understood exactly what you meant. I think admin was being a little too sensitive.

I didn't take it as racist at all, GGky1959. I totally understand about the communication issues, as I stated in my above post. I've had several experiences with doctors in the past that I could barely understand. You pay all that money and you can't understand your doctor, which is a terribly frustrating (and expensive!) experience. This is why I'm hesitant to try some foreign doctors because many of them (not all, but many) have very thick accents that I can't understand. They may be excellent doctors and great people, but if I can't understand 3/4 of what they're saying, I won't bother with them. It's my health and my money, and I need to be able to communicate with them so I can get on the road to feeling better as quickly as possible.

I know, I just felt it necessary to once again explain my comment. I'm the last person on the planet to hate on anybody....I got soooo many issues going on my life to really ever try to go there. But thanks, I'm glad you understood me.

That was the point I was trying to inject here. Its about me, its about us....and if communication the key to any doctors visit is henderd in any way, no one loses but us. That was the low point of that visit, I left his office with no gains, nothing resolved and am still paying out of pocket for it. Its a right we must take seriously if we're to fight this dreaded decease. I would bet, were we in India, or any country for that matter, our english would be just as frustrating to them....no one is racist or bias here, we just need the right doctor to care for us properly, regardless of RACE

I think the absolute LEAST you should expect when you visit your doctor is that you can actually understand what they are saying. Isn't that just common sense? How is that racist?

Today we live in a society that begs for political correctivness when addressing ethnicity. Its just the sign of the times. I wasn't trying to be racist, but if people find it that way (and I've been told by very good friends that my take on foriegn doctors does have a hint of racism in it), all you can do is correct yourself. That's what I tried to do here...I did in response to moderators perhaps finding it offensive. And just the thought of being kicked off this sight frightend me.
