Val, u certainly got to change another CRS! The thing that he said will do free surgery calls for suspicions. Nothing is free in this world ESP the medical world, so something might have gone wrong. Also, do not trust doctors 100%, after all they are still humans n still able to make mistake even if they r top surgeon. N u know, when one gets to the top, complacency can start. So we r here for u, update us!

I used to use magnesium every night - then it just upset my tummy every time I used it. But it did work for a long time Image
Yes, I thought it was a bit suspicious too - as you say, nothing is for nothing in this world! I am going to my GP on the 3rd, so will demand she does something about it - either a referral to another CRS or get my surgery and MRI notes and see that they are both different.

I also had problems with the magnesium supplements, upset my tummy too! I'm sorry to hear you're still having problems, and now problems with the MRI stuff. I have stopped using canestan as the nurse thinks it burnt my skin, I have tried timodine and it calms but doesn't get rid of the problem. Have tried another cream from the doc I got on friday and it made it worse, he said if it did to stop straight away and go back so I have....only can't get in to see him until Friday now!! Just using timodine to calm it. Good news on the fissure front, have rung the hospital and have my examination under anaesthetic on 21st November and they will do botox at the same time if they think it's appropriate (I am pushing for this as the private CRS said he thought botox would help it to heal completely as its partially healed). Think they're also checking theres nothing else too so thats all a positive. At least I won't be paying a fortune to get it sorted out, as a less than 2 month wait is ok ish for the NHS. I've got this far waiting!! Just need to sort my other problem now! I really hope you get your problems sorted out, keep pestering the doctor! I was really assertive with the consultants secretary today and it got me somewhere so thats good. You legally have a right to see your medical notes now so you can request it to find out whats going on. Good luck with getting the referral again, let me know how it goes on the 3rd :D

Aw great news Sue! Have you got the same surgeon that you saw privately? Make sure when you actually go in for the op that it is actually a qualified CRS doing it - sometimes if they are busy they use a locum. That's what I got when I had a botched surgery.
I read somewhere about borax for thrush so I googled it and found these cures - don't know if it's any use?

No its not the CRS I saw privately. It's the registrar who has got all this moving for me, it will be the consultant who does the examination and botox and he was the CRS I saw first at the hospital who was really good (not that idiot of a consultant who I saw second). I was told on the phone it would be him doing it. Aw thank you for doing all that Val, will have a look at it. Image I had a swab done and it came back clear so it looks dermatological, think the doc wants to do another to make sure. I had something similar before 10 years ago and this doctor I am with now was extremely good in getting me to see a dermatologist who sorted it so hopefully that will happen this time. I personally think the canestan has damaged my skin and it needs to repair itself which apparantly can take months and months - eek! Will see what he says when I go back :D

Aw thanks Dwarf! Well, I had an appointment with my GP last night - a new one at our practice. I had been waiting for the appt since I got those MRI results as we have to book "routine" appts in advance!
I told her all about the mri being wrong and she looked at me blankly and said " I'm sorry but I don't even know the symptoms of a fistula, let alone the best treatment for one. You need someone with surgical experience to help you!!!" She didn't even know what a seton was!!
I have an appt with my normal CRS tomorrow night - hopefully he will be more helpful this time!
