Hi Anniebee. I just got to reading some of your posts and let me say my heart goes out to you. I have endured a similar situation to you. I had a fissure for nearly a year, followed by LIS which led to an abscess and then a sinus (the stage before a fistula has fully developed). Even under the care os my CRS I was given the runaround with my post-surgical abscess. It happened over Christmas holidays and I had quite a long wait until I had the surgery which ultimately resolved it. I spent 3 weeks on antibiotics before the surgery but of course this was not the solution and those things were so awful to the rest of my body.
I am in Canada as well....in Alberta. Where are you located?
To answer some of your questions, my infection caused all sorts of burning, swelling and, oh yes spasms. It was very painful. Hang in there. Many of us on here totally understand that it can take a very long time to be taken seriously and obtain proper treatment but it sounds like you are finally there. I hope you get in for surgery real soon.
I also wanted to add that it may be very difficult to wait but this is definitely something you want an experienced CRS doing, not just any general surgeon you would get in the ER.
