Day 17:
Well, the abscess bust even more yesterday, sending a load of pussy yucky junky stuff out which stung like hell after a bowel motion. I've got the oregano oil, but I'm not too sure about the best way to use it as it shouldn't be applied topically to broken skin. I think it's okay dispersed in a bath or sitz bath, just not directly on the abscess site. I've also been feeling a bit shaky due to my iron levels, so probably need to up my iron intake. Hell will freeze over before I resort to the iron tablets! I took three and the effects were very unpleasant, so I'm ignoring my doctor's advice on this. Probably risky, but there we are.
Right now, I'm feeling a bit depressed if I'm honest, knowing it could have been very different. I was hoping the abscess might have drained once and for all, but it's still playing up, but maybe not to the extent it was. Hard to say really. I will probably try the oil today, but will be sparing with it.
Becka, doctor's specialise in cryptic responses lol! I've often come out of the doctor's office wondering exactly what to do. I would say if it's really small, keep it super clean and maybe put a small dab of topical antispectic on it such as Savlon. I'm also considering that universal panacea, TCP liquid - it seem to work for so many things. Not sure I'd use it neat, but a bit diluted. It just occurred to me.
I am just about managing to sit on my inflatable doughnut at my computer for a few minutes, which is a slight improvement from a few days ago, which is something I guess.
I'm getting to that May Fair, by hook or by crook!
I think the collective response to the LIS, fissures, hems etc. should be AAAARGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH! People who haven't gone through it, wouldn't have a clue. Saying that, I guess these things are hardly life threatening and others are in a fair worse boat then us. But I do think it's human nature to focus on our own problems.
So it's a toss up between diluted TCP and oregano oil. TCP is generally very good for infection, but it does pong, to put it mildly. The Police song, 'Don't Stand Too close To Me' springs to mind lol!
