Hi Penton and a big welcome to our group, where you are not alone
Firstly, your best bet is to see a Colon and Rectal Surgeon (CRS), and believe me they have seen it all, so don't worry about that. Remember it's your health that matters. We have all been at the anxious and down place, and that is why there are so many helpful people here ready and willing to answer any questions.
GI doctors would be right for Acid Reflux, but a CRS is much the best for sorting out fissures.
Don't worry about the blood. If you read information about fissures, you will see that it is quite common to bleed. I have been doing so off and on for two years.
Your fissure is chronic and there is probably scar tissue from the tear, which is part of the problem so many of us have.
When I was examined by a CRS, I had it done while I was 'out' so I did not feel a thing. The worst part was the clear out before hand. If you see a CRS, suggest that.
Sorry your family is not around, but we do share your pain, believe me!
There is a vast amount of information on here, and anything you want to ask, feel free.
