All,
I wanted to share an update.
On April 20th, I had the LIS surgery. I didn't want to have surgery (of any kind), but I am very glad I did it.
it's now June 3rd, and I'm pretty much pain-free.
My surgeon told me that I had the largest fissure he'd ever seen. I think he was going around telling colleagues about it (though not using my name, thankfully). It had been a chronic fissure that caused me pain and suffering for several years. And last September, I had a tear that caused me excruciating pain that lasted until the surgery.
Following the surgery, I had a challenging week or two, and then things just kept getting better. Several weeks later, it's all a foggy memory. I think my fissure is still healing and will take time to do so. But it's definitely improving and I no longer suffer from spasms or the immense debilitating pain I'd experienced for 7-plus months. Not to mention the years of less intense but still painful recurrences.
I have no advice for other folks, as everyone's case is unique and individual. But I am very grateful I was able to have this surgery.
