Go for it! Good to know that your doctor and you are on the same page. That is very important. All the best!
Sounds like you are prepared for whatever is coming and your confidence and determination will alone stride you through these horrible times. It is so heartening (a little sobering even) to know that you are keeping such a positive attitude even after having been through so much. Keeps the rest of us motivated too.

Haha I wouldn't call my attitude positive at all actually... But I put in 3 surgeries, (now 4), botox, creams, countless silver nitrate cauterizations (ouch), HBOT, not to that mention I am quite nearly bankrupt, have not spoken to a member of my family in nearly 2 months (even though I live with them), I've missed my favorite meals, events, vacations, grad school, and my exercise routine which had become a massively positive part of my life...I've simply invested way too much in healing to give up now. If I was inactive and much older with kids and a wife I *might* consider just managing it...but I am way too young and have invested way too much to give up now. I will not resign to live in a world where a papercut in your ass caused by a surgeon's heavy hand is just too complicated for all of medical science to cure.

I'm with you. I am older and have older kids and I will not "manage" this. I need it healed, I will not live with this, it's unacceptable.

Unacceptable. I am with you Apes. Best of luck. My surgery actually just got bumped up a day to Tuesday, so that's even better for me.

Thanks OMB.

I've been writing down questions that pop into my head all morning for tomorrow's appointment. I will follow-up with Feingold initially after the surgery, but keep my local CRS in the loop and I even told him yesterday that if this surgery fails he's going to re-flap or have to suggest something else. Feingold said 2/3 patients are pain free in 10 days, but some have taken as long as 6 weeks, so I figure in about a month I'll have a sense one way or the other of if the procedure was a success or if I should begin considering other options. There goes my June...Looking forward to a healed July.

It's the day before the surgery and I just had a pretty easy BM that came out very bloody like I have not seen since mid-April. And now my butt stings and burns like poop on an open wound. So while that really upsets me, it makes me feel more confident that I made the only available choice left to me in going for that surgery tomorrow.

So yesterday completely sucked except for the fact that the nurses and staff were sooo ridiculously, over-the-top nice and professional. I have to say that the whole crew yesterday, everyone from the security guards, to the secretaries and assistants, to the driver that they arranged to take me home, were genuinely some of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. And I'm sure everyone who has ever undergone any surgery knows it makes all the difference when you are nervous and in pain.

That said, I gotta say that I'm very skeptical at this point that any procedure will ever heal this wound, and I am wondering whether or not I'll just be tortured with failed surgery after surgery until I give up and/or die. For anyone with an actual fissure, that is to say, one that they got from pooping/muscle spasm, I would by all means give this procedure strong consideration before LIS. There should be a paper out on it in the next few months. When I woke up, I was told I have a scarred up anus, which is to be expected from all my prior surgeries, so I could not be dilated to the extent that is typically done for typical cases. I was also told that my "fissure" was very superficial, but much broader than is typical, which is of course because mine is not a fissure at all, but remnants of a too-large surgical wound. That confirms my long held belief that the first guy used an ice-cream scoop instead of a scalpel, and the darn thing just won't close even though it looks very healthy and viable. One of these surgeons better heal me or just kill me soon. I'm on fumes.
