My poop today wasn't perfect either. It was easy once it got moving, but required a little actual push to get it moving. I usually try to go without even a push at all. I take deep breaths like some zen yoga master and after a few seconds the poop is just falling from my butt on a good day. Today required an actual push, albeit a small one. I think I am going to resume my high fat low vegetable diet because I poop easier when I eat crap.

Developed fissure from constipation due to breastfeeding 7 weeks after delivery (Jan 2014)
Nifedepine
Colace
Magnesium
Miralax - godsend
Nitro - some improvement
LIS (May 2014) - cured for 3 months then setback
Diltiazem
Feeling better for now

Usually higher fat foods, like pizza or a burger or something like that make my poop softer blobs that just slip right out, and fiber and a lot of vegetables will make my poop thick logs that need to be pushed out. But yesterday I ate a slice of pizza and today my poop was even worse than yesterday's, and I had to push it again to get the hard tip to get past the surgery site. The spasms are horrific too today and yesterday. I wake up in the middle of the night screaming at the top of my lungs when my butt muscles flex onto the wound. It just started yesterday too. It's very strange. My CRS is away for 1 more week, and I'm not sure there's anything he'd do for me anyway.

Hi, that's not uncommon. They give you a shot during surgery that can last for up to 72 hours. That helps with the pain but when it wears off you feel it. Suzy

Ok thanks. I've very upset at myself for not having a great BM this morning. It wasn't too bad, but I had to push a little bit at the beginning and I could feel the poop pushing my surgery site. I hope I didn't ruin anything. I think I did. I spend all day thinking about how to poop good. Yesterday I took a colace in the morning so that it would soften up the first part of the poop. It didn't at all. I'm so upset I could cry if it wasn't so fucking painful to sob right now. I'm paranoid that I've popped my stitches. I see a streak of blood just like I used to, so I don't know what the F**k is going on. Also the drainage from this surgery is very gross and worse than with my previous surgeries.

I had open flaps about the size of sliver dollars each. The discharge was gross too. Are you using miralax. That's what I was told to use. I had to keep adjusting it to get the right consistency but it helps a lot. Before the surgery I used almost 2 heaping capfuls daily, now I'm on a maintaince dose of less than half a regular dose. I also cut back on the fiber I used to eat because it made me go too much. It's really important not to push. The reason you feel the need to push right now is because of all the internal swelling. That takes quite a while before it goes away. I had lots of little setbacks the first 3 months so try not to worry. Wishing you a speedy recovery suzy.

Oh gosh asdf... Sounds sooo painful for you. I'm sorry. Xx

Please do consider mirilax. It takes a couple of days to get in your system, but it really is such a reliable stool softener. Keep on taking pain killers at regular times to stay on top of the pain. Have you got a heating pad or wheat bag?? I find one of them held against my butt soothes spasming muscles a bit. I also slept on my side with a pillow between my legs so nothing was squashed. I found that really helped too. I still do it now.

Please don't panic at the bleeding... You aren't even a week out of surgery yet. Scabs will be trying to form, and get brushed off. Like Suzy says..... Things will be swollen to hell down there.
Try not to push. When ever I feel it's going to be a bit sluggish I twist slightly to the right on the toilet and that seems to get things going without the need to push.

I'm still keeping everything crossed for you...... I'm not sure how much longer I can sustain crossing my eyes for you though!!
