Dear Lars - welcome to our forum and sorry that you have to go through so much pain - only we who have it know how much it hurts and how much havoc it brings in one's life : (((.
I agree with Buttgirl - if you have constant pain and have trouble to pass the gas you DEFINITELY have the spasm. It is unfortunate that your doctor is ignorant - same here - most of us had to change 3-4 CRSs to get some relief.
I had LIS and pain was gone immediately - I could not believe it !!! Even my first bowel movement was almost pain free. I had a very happy life until 3 weeks ago when I re injured the area with some semi-hard poop, but you know what - even that I am now sore from that it can not compare with my pre LIS situation. I can function completely and pain is mostly present during pooping and even than maybe 20% of original fissure pain.
If I were you I would search to reasonable CRS until I find one !
I wish you luck and fast healing Image

Image Hi Lars,
Sorry to hear about your pain Image and trouble with your Dr.'s. Wishing you the best of luck with a different doc. I know it is hard to find a good one, I am on my 3rd Dr.
I have been using nefidipine for about 2 months now, it seems to be helping very slowly. Hope you can get relief soon. I am hoping for botox in several weeks, if things do not get better soon.
I also have the dull pain most of the time and it is very frustrating not to get relief. It is a very tight feeling and it is very hard to pass gas. BM's are also very painful. Soft stools are very important to help My problems started early February after suffering from an internal hemorrhoidectomy, and getting several fissures from it. That surgery is one of my greatest regrets.
This is a wonderful board to read. You will be able to get some great advice from others who have been through similar things as us fissure suffers. Glad you found this board. Welcome.

Thank you all for great advice and input :)
I haven`t sleept good tonight. I have been thinking about the appointment today. I`m crossing my fingers that the CRS agrees with me :)
Reading your posts i am now 90 % convinced i have the spasm. Not always, but often. I am sure that this delays healing and rips open my fissure after a BM. In the morning like now i am not in pain, just a little discomfort. But this changes when i have a BM.
The "problem" in norway is that a CRS have to many people as patiens. Healtcare is free in norway so they don`t have the time to realy hear you out. I will keep you posted as the day go by :)

Hi Lars,

I'm so sorry you're going through this, spasms are the worst pain ever! I had the LIS and like Fiss and Chris, it got rid of the spasms and really helped. I wish you the best of luck in your appointment today, and hope you can get a doctor to listen to you.
Dont give up, get a second, third, however many opinions til they get it right. Our health service is also free, and is awful too! I had to go privately in the end and pay lots of money to get it sorted, but it was worth it. Is that an option for you? There is a world of difference to the care they give you.
All the best

Hi Val
Yes that is definitly an option for me. I have already sent an request to a private clinic in stavanger Norway. I have been there before with inner hemmies(they did rbl). But I am not sure if they operate on fissures there... I do know they operate on outer hemmies so I cross my fingers they do the samme on fissures. The CRS who work there is only there for a week in the month. This is because he lives in Iceland and works at a hospital over there :) Very nice person. Much better than the CRS`s at the hospital.

Back from the hospital. The other CRS agreed with my primary CRS. No LIS operation for me. They wanted to give me another botox shot with a very high dose. If this was a succes and the fissure healed and my discomfort went away then they were willing to do the LIS.?!?But if the third botox fails they where gonna send me to another hospital. The CRS maybe thought i could have Internal prolapse (intussusception) - Part of the wall of the colon (large intestine) may slide into or over another part, much like the moving parts of the telescope. The tissue does not hang out of the body. It occurs inside (internal).
Symptoms of a rectal prolapse may be:
Leakage of stool
Bleeding, anal pain, itching, irritation
Tissue that protrudes from the rectum
Other accompanying symptoms may be:
A feeling of having full bowels and an urgent need to have a bowel movement
Passage of many very small stools
The feeling of not being able to empty the bowels completely
I have absolutly no leakage of stool and the bleeding have stopped months ago. They didn`t check up on me. Just talking. They wil do that on friday.
I am desperate to get better :( My total life has been ripped apart... I don`t know what else to do :(

Hey Lars,
Sorry you are not feeling well. :(
Maybe when they look on Friday you will get more encouraging news. Not sure if it makes sense to have LIS if the fissure healed with botox?? unless they think it could come back?
Hoping you have a painfree Image day, I know you need it.

i'm not sure why they'd say you have a prolapse without doing an actual exam. ??? if you don't have any of the symptoms it doesn't make sense. Find another dr as soon as you can, hopefully someone else can correctly diagnose you and offer some more solutions.

I know what you mean about this ripping your life apart. It can definitely seem never ending when you're suffering everyday. But try not to despair. we all feel your pain and desperation!
