Aw thanks! Ya it's been tough! I never in my life realized that it could be this hard to have a bowel movement and how much it affects my life! My follow up isnt for 3 months but I might call and see if I can see them earlier. Hope you are well!

Day 17

08.30 - A 4 BM (garh, spelt bread!) BUT painfree, going and afterwards!!! OMG! :bouncer:

10.30 - A 4 BM followed swiftly by a 5, I ate sweetcorn after my few days of spelt bread to mark the end of it (gross I know, but that's how I can tell in the BM's) The sweetcorn and veg part was the 5 and the 4 bit was the spelt again. But, PAINFREE going and afterwards :bouncer:

So, the only carbohydrates I have added so far are oatcakes and spelt bread, both of which create 4's. This week is wholewheat spelt pasta, so hopefully I will find a carb I can eat. The week after that I'm trying potato, hopefully that will be ok as opens my food world up so much more, especially when eating out!

I really really think I am healing now, I simply can't believe it!!! :D

:smilyhug: Keep going sugar spice... You can do it. When I last visited my CRS, he told me to monitor my stools(I look in the toilet after every BM)! Lol. Never thought in a million years I would be analysing my poo! Bristol 4 is what we should aim for snake like and soft and easy to pass. I don't get much pain with 4's and believe it or not if I am runnier I am sore. Do you take Movicol? I find this really helps me too. As I was always fluctuating between diareah and constipation this was hell for my Fissures. I have done the FODMAP plan under a registered dietician and my IBS is so much more controlled now. I had Botox back in April which healed 2 Fissures, but the area at 7'0clock was so damaged(I had my fissures for around 8 months before getting the Botox) that I have re-torn on that area, I have also just had another unrelated op, which has sent me into stress mode, so this definately hasn't helped....

I wish you the best of luck in healing.... :fairy:

Just browsing offline when I came across your last thread here
I saw those words again....."psyllium husk".

Sugarspice, I've heard soo many people here and elsewhere complain that the
psyllium husk gave them huge bm's and made their bm's way too bulky,
Along with the bloating and gas. Maybe thats happening with you.
I'll plug in the references later.

They also say you have to drink enormous amounts of water if your using it.
JHH has had good results with it, maybe he will suggest how much to take. But
a good alternative is to use flaxseed oil or ground flaxseed; Much less complications
if any.

Good luck with that appointment too!

P.S. Peruse the whole page of threads for both...

Thanks Buttastic, I think you could be right actually, I am going to stop taking it. I am now itchy and sore after that last rather large BM and a bit worried as haven't had this in days, I know it's not the burning pain but it feels like a set back...EEK! Would I know if I had re-torn in any way??? Just seen my surgeon and he seemed a little dissapointed that it has taken me 2.5 weeks to be pain free but he said it's progress and that he would class me as healed if I continue having pain-free BM's for 2 months straight.

PS - Thanks for the links, I was on a pretty small dose, 1 tablet per day (500mg) but my stomach and bowels certainly weren't impressed and neither am I! :dunno:

Feel like a setback:

Oh I'd say it was a minor one that was from that last hard stool.
That's why it's so paramount now that you keep your stools soft.

Just being sore and itchy does not sound like a re-tear though.
Now if that were accompanied by spasming and blood and pain
like you had before, than I'd be worried.

So you may have dodged a bullet with that last hard stool,
but don't push your luck dear.
