I'm determined not to let this condition ruin my life!

Had 3 BMs this morning and between the 2nd and 3rd, had the most awful spasms since the first couple of weeks since I did my AF. Laid curled up on my bed around noon in agony, thinking to myself this is typical for this to happen on the one day I wanted to feel normal!

Anyway, decided there and then, I will not be dictated to by this condition! Got up, had another coconut sitz, then applied more Recto, took some ibuprofen and some Bachflowers Rescue Remedy and slowly the spasms have eased as the afternoon's gone on.

I've had enough of this Fissure ruining my life. I'm off to the match tonight, come hell or high water, if I pay for it tomorrow, so be it! :p

Oh nooo MR F
It's soooo NOT fair that our bodies just don't want to play fair.
I bet you do recover a bit quicker though, that's the one thing I have noticed that after a bad day where before LIS the pain and discomfort would have lasted a few days it seems to go in about 12 hours with no residual pain.
It's not great that it takes this long for some of us but we will get there. You will get to a point where you don't have to think about your butt before you go out. My fingers are crossed for you for tomorrow I'm hoping you manage to get there.

Thanks mpb!

So I made it the game. Car journey down there was slow, as it was a sell out and we crawled through traffic. Sat their in agony most of the match (and it wasn't just down to the way we were playing lol!) shuffling from one cheek to another. Could have done without the 30 mins extra time too! And to to top it all we then went and lost on penalties ! LoL!

Despite all that, I was pleased on a personal point to have made it, but nevertheless went to bed feeling extremely sore. Surprised therefore to wake up this morning and not feel anything like as bad as expected. I'm still tender, particularly round the fissure site so taking it steadier today, but plan to take the dog out for a stroll this evening all being well.

Glad you got to the game Mr F sorry your team didnt win and what a way to draw out your pain that's just not on.
yes I agree the LIS does seem to stop the pain continuing into the next day.
It does really make you feel more normal when you manage to normal activities. Hope the dog walk is enjoyable and the weather is better

MR F,

I'm so sorry to hear that you are still not healing. I really do feel for you. I've had a bad afternoon/evening /now so we can hold hands and grit our teeth together. Great effort to get to the match. Well done!

My appointment with the consultant is looming in a couple of days. I'm hoping they will help me as ive not suffered so much or long before.

Resmeplz . Thank you. I am certainly going to lay it all out there for the consultant.

Thanks for your kind thoughts Kv12.

Unfortunately whenever I venture out of the house it seems I put myself back. Went for a walk last night, a little longer than normal and sure enough the burn and pulling came on after about 20 mins. Today I only have to touch my rear end just below my tailbone and it feels like I've stuck a drawing pin in my flesh! :affraid: Pretty sure I've re-opened my fissure again...so, so demoralizing.

On the positive side, I am feeling less pain now from the incision site, and my adductor is feeling stronger, so hopefully these factors may help me gain control again over the fissure soon. If not, then I really feel I'll be heading to the CRS a fortnight today asking for another operation...

Anyway, fingers crossed for your appointment tomorrow. Here's hoping that it goes well and that you come out with a plan of action to help you get back to living a normal pain-free life again. Keep us posted...

All the very best

Oh noooo Mr F that doesn't sound good. Is there a possibility that the abductor is causing some of your pain as it seems to be made worse by walking. Which often helps a lot of people with fissures.
It may have absolutely nothing to do with it of course. But perhaps the surrounding muscles are not working correctly which could be causing your sphincter to contract. Just a thought
I hope the surgeon can give you some idea of what is going on for you

Thanks, guys!

I do try to keep a positive attitude Jim, but after so long, and so many regular setbacks, it can get hard. Nevertheless I'd go stir crazy if I stayed inside every day, and I have a little doggie to walk who thinks I've fallen out with him if I don't take him for at least 1 of his 3 walks a day!

MPB, I'm pretty sure that you're right, that the 2 problems are most certainly linked, in fact an adductor injury from 2 years ago even led to me getting a Fissure due to constipation. I am pretty sure that my whole pelvic region is out of kilter and if (sorry, when! :D ) I get my AF sorted, I intend to seek out a pelvic floor specialist to help improve things, and hopefully prevent any future issues. I will be asking Mr B for any pointers in this area.

I know it's contrary to general consensus of fissures, but mine has never responded well to exercise (even before I re-injured my adductor), usually going tight and pulling, though I believe GG also gets a similar reaction.

Strangely, and as is often the case, my Fissure feels ok today so far, though my adductor is tight again...go figure!?

Thanks again for your words of support guys, they do help especially on days like yesterday...

It's def interesting that both yourself and GG who appear to have more complex pelvic muscle issues don't respond well to exercise. Obviously some link there.
Maybe it's worth trying to sort out the pelvic floor as soon as instead of waiting for the fissure to heal. It may help it to heal.
I know how frustrating it is when you have other issues that complicate matters. I know I would be spasm free if my colon behaved.
We have to keep going and remember that we have come so far
I really hope you get something sorted soon Mr F
