Dont be hard on yourself Image
You had such a big day yesterday and it will knock you for six, Drink plenty of fluids to flush the G/A out, soups and smoothies too you will need to line your tummy to take the meds as they will help reduce the pain and swelling....
You are going to get better please just rest for now Image

I think the first BM - or rather dreading it is the worst part of this surgery! Everyone says it will be ok, and yet you dont know it will be until it happens so you worry and worry. When its ready it will happen and you'll handle it - you've had a fissure you can handle anything!!!

I know its horrible, i know its scary- i also know it will get better, you'll probably feel more relaxed after you have that first BM! Then you'll feel more confident about it all. Hang in there, you're bound to feel down and miserable, you've only just had an operation. Give it some time and relax and be nice to yourself, it does get better. Image Image Image

I opened my bowels twice an hour ago.the first time,it was very less and the pack came out.the next one was a bit painful but again not much came out.the pain then worsened.its almost like the fissure pain.im not even able to walk.worse part i have fever.i was prescribed metronidazole 400mg and they gave me 200mg tabs to take 2.ive been taking just 1 200mg thinking its 400mg.how dumb can i be not to check it?my hubby just checked it.i feel terrible.im very tearful and losing all hopes.my crs said the fissure pain shud subside drastically after surgery but i will feel bruised.now i dont know if LIS has worked for me or not.u r all right in saying i shud be patient.i feel too low.
hope tomorrow's a better day

Please, please, Pinky, you need to have some faith here. You just had the surgery and you aren't likely to feel good at all and it may take awhile to heal from but you need to believe that the future is bright for you. There is no reason to believe you aren't going to heal 100%. You have no underlying complications or health problems. Please just accept a hug and a shoulder to cry on. But don't give up, dearest, you are going to be okay.

Do you think some valium might help? It can help relax your sphincter and also get you through the anxiety or bit. What are you doing for pain? It sounds like you aren't controlling it well enough and you are sounding desperate. Please don't let yourself suffer. People heal better when the pain is controlled.

What kind of doctor are you, by the way?

oh dear pinky (hug..) You will not know if LIS worked for months !!!!
Everybody's experience is different - I had no fissure pain after my first LIS but most people did . I healed VERY fast , most people
took much longer. I am back to square one but MOST people are CURED !!!! So, dear Pinky - you see, all went perfect for me and at the end I was one that still has problems and other way around. Your fissure pain is still there because perhaps you have a lot of swelling and maybe your sphincter is still in shock and in spasm . It is just too early to make any assessment of success of your LIS- the only thing you have to take care of now is that fiver and ASAP !!!! CAll your CRS immediately !!! All will be fine at the end dear Pinky - just be patient and vigilant Image !!!!!!!

Yeah, Pinky, having a fever doesnt really sound like a good sign, you ought to go and get that checked.
But you will be in pain for a while, you had stitches didn't you? They can still be sore for weeks after, I know mine were. After checking out the fever problem, if thats ok, then all you need is time. It does get better, its just that it gets better so slowly we think there's no progress, but week by week it gets that little bit better and we can look back and see theres been an improvement. Dont lose hope of it healing just 2 days post-op, these are the worst days, so just rest and be kind to yourself and we're all here for you every step of the way! Image

I'm glad your fever has come down, but keep an eye on the discharge - you didnt have an infection prior to your LIS, so there shouldn't really be any drainage like that. Have you got it checked by your GP or told your CRS? They should have given you a number you can call after your op. Or if you phone NHSDirect, they will call you back and advise you. I dont want to scare you, but infection can sometimes get into the bloodstream so its best to check it out sooner rather than later. Just get an expert opinion on it to be on the safe side. I bet it really hurts too, if its infected, poor you, i hope you feel better very soon. Image

Pinky - how nice to hear you don't have a fiver !!!! I was very worried and still am- I agree with Val - PLEASE call your CRS. You might need different antibiotic or stronger dose now !!! The initial dose was more like profilaxis, not a treatment for infection and the dosage than can be quiet different. I also do not to want to give you now extra worries : (, but it is always better to check with CRS and ask to be seen. That kind of discharge is never normal with LIS : (.
Please take care Pinky- you have to do it for you and your baby too . Image
All the best Image Image Image
