Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has tried massage with a pelvic floor wand in addition to the dilation. Anyone had success with it?

Pafen,

I have been using the wand off and on.. Don't feel as though it was making a difference; then had Botox which did... I have to start dilation again;

I tried to use the wand rectally for a week but it was too painful! My pt suggested that I start dilation again little by little; don't force myself if its too painful.

Yesterday I had another appointment with a different physical therapist; she did her physical examination and thinks that it could be my coccyx bone causing this anal pain; i told her that I've been doing my stretching exercises, had Botox and i still have the burning sutting pain. Now they are ordering me to have an MRI; I have been in pain for a year now!!! I hope that this MRI does reveal the source that could be causing me this anal pain.

Alyssa, that's interesting, because at one point my coccyx was really painful for quite a few months.

What does your pain feel like.... Is it just like the fissure pain??

If I hadn't been told my fissures were healed I would think they were still the same, as the pain is virtually the same.

I had an appointment with the pain clinic today. I'm not sure if it will be much use. It more about learning to live with your pain.... But I spose until I can get it under some sort of control I am living with it, so will continue to see them...... Why not eh?!

At first it did feel as though I still had fissures, after doing physical therapy and Botox to the pelvic floor, the pain is more like scrapping pain when I have a bowel movement. The anal canal tissue is tender to the touch, when I sit... The stretching burning pain begins. At first it starts like a rug burn feeling, then stretching pain, but later my anus feels as though it is in fire so I have to stand to relief this pain. When standing I just feel a dull ache in the rectum like a headache

It's depressing to just sit and wait to figure out what's wrong with me; I'm tired! A therapist told me that this journey is like peeling an onion, they have to go layer by layer to determine what's causing this pain. All the failed treatments (ex. Physical therapy, Botox) help the doctor narrow the causing factor.. I guess I should be more positive but it's hard to live with chronic pain on a daily basis!

Interesting regarding the coccyx,

I remember early on before I developed fully fledged pelvic pain one of my first symptoms was severe coccyx pain whenever I got up out of a chair. To the extent that I almost dread getting out of the chair at work. I had a sit down job so it probably didn't help either.

I have my EUA and sigmoidoscopy in 2 days time, beyond that I am going to try more physical therapy procedures.I may also get a cystoscopy done but the urologist told me himself he doesn't expect to find anything.

Probably wouldn't hurt to find someone who is specialized with coccyx issues.

Th burning which turns into a dull ache is exactly the same as my chronic rectal pain. I too have found no answers as to why I still have it.

Pafen,

I have been doing my stretching exercises but even with Botox I have the sitting burning pain.. I hope this is the answer to the cause of my pain... Praying to God that this is it!
