My gastro Dr. in NYC said to keep things soft and easy I am NEVER to eat white rice or bananas, there were a few others she mentioned, can't remember them now. I know for me, rice totally binds me up, and in the past has actually caused an impaction.

Great that is posted and been revived, there are a lot of things I don't eat
- soy
- gluten
- lactose and now casein
- fructose
- spices, a thing hot
- mints
- any kind of drink but water, I have two gastrolytes a day
- any meat but chicken
- chocolate

A great product is orgran, it's free of most things. I love it. Goats cheese is one if the safest cheeses too. I also take two magnesium, one vitamin C, one vitamin D, one stool softer, one inner health plus, two Yakults every day. I also do two walks every day ranging from 20-35 minutes each and 40 pelvic floor. This usually enables me to go 1-2 times a day and for it to be soft. If I don't go for one day I add one extra stool softer that night.

I too avoid bread and wheat flour products. The up side of this is that I have not had a single migraine in the year I've not eaten it.
I also avoid rice... Had a re tare after eating rice about a year ago.
I eat all dairy and meats... None of which seem to affect me either way.

I don't avoid anything completely but diet is biased much more towards fruit and veg than it's ever been.Foods I keep to a bare minimum are white bread, potatoe products, cheese, pastry products and couscous. If I have any of those I try to OD on fruit and veg during the rest of the day :). I love fish pie (potatoes, cheese) but now only have a very small amount as that tends to constipate me. I love bananas but now have no more than 1 a day.
I've recently stopped drinking coffee (for now!) and trying to keep tea drinking down too - no more than 4 cups a day and started to enjoy hot water!
I tend to have brown rice, brown bread, brown pasta - a little gritty until you get used to it

To avoid constipation I avoid rice, because what I think happens is when builds up in your colon the water is easily transferred out leaving a sticky mass which binds together and is difficult to pass.
I am also avoiding too much dairy, especially cheese, bananas and white bread, but that is more on advice that experience.
Since limiting my diet things have started to taste different, I don't like tea and coffee now but the biggest loss is Ginsters Pasties, they used to be a staple, but now they taste too greasy.
