Hi Ann, you are nearly there, look yourself in the mirror and say I CAN DO THIS........the pain of the past 3 years has worn you down I remember being exactly the same my whole life revolved around if and when I did a BM. My husband used to say as soon as he put the key in the front door coming home from work and walking in and looking at me he knew if I had been to the loo or not........pain wears you down. When I went to the loo back in April/May I ended up sitting on an exercise ball for hours nothing worked to relieve it. I got so depressed that I felt there was no point in going on.......YOU CAN CHANGE THIS.......this surgery is the answer your husband is right, it is the golden fix as my surgeon called it.......if it s been going on this long it needs this surgery DO NOT BE AFRAID... it is in fact easier than having the fissure pain. You will look back and all will be well.

Disabling burning, drilling pain in anal area for almost a year, started after UT infection. Small anal fissure diagnosed, turned out it is probably not the cause of pain, MRI shows no inflammation or fistula. Grateful to forum members for support.

Yay well done scared Ann, worst part over NOW............you must breathe and imagine that first BM just slipping out and not causing problems. The are is going to be sore and it will take some time for it all to settle but IT WILL SETTLE AND HEAL.......you just keep telling yourself that it will. Keep the pain meds up and I found that dipping into a bath right after a BM helpful, it's hard to clean up when the area is swollen and tender but it will get better each day. You'll be dancing by Christmas !! WELL DONE and wishing you lots of healing x

The worst should be over now. Take care of yourself and heal. Take all the time you need.
I'm cheering you on! You need to change your name now - no more Scared Ann!
